“Fresh Fish and Chips”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2013

Wow! to get fresh fish beautifully fried in beer batter and taste reminiscent of the Chippy's Cod is unexpected but fresh it was and flaked just like the English fair.

Freshly baked Ciabata and seedbread amongst many other assorted breads are produced on certain days. Give them a ring so you will not be dissapointed.

The fresh mint water and the friendly service is worth the visit.

We have watched this gem evolve over a few months and it is certainly going places.

“A REAL GEM”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2013

To celebrate my wife's birthday, she and I spent a most enjoyable weekend in Montagu. Of course, we went in search of good food and found exactly that at a delightful place called Rambling Rose.

Bright and airy, the restaurant has a warm and welcoming feel complemented by the friendliness of the owner, Sergio, who danced to our every whim.

The front shop was stacked with all kinds of tantalizing goodies. The olives, soaked in vinegar and lemon, were unique in their taste and flavour.

When Sergio, laid claim to the fact that he only served fresh fish (as opposed to frozen), we had to see for ourselves. To put it mildly, we were most impressed. Grilled to perfection, the swordfish was succulent and tasty. It was also so filling that we had to return for our coffee and cake.

The apple Danish pastries went down well with the decaf coffee and capuccino.

Special mention must be made of the sauces which were provided with our meal. We literally fell in love with the tomato and chilli. So, three jars, plus some scrumptious home made bread, found their way back to Cape Town with us. We doubt whether they will last till our next visit!

In short Rambling Rose comes highly recommended and deserves its No 1 place on Tripadvisor.
