“A Saturday Lunch with a big Surprise”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

Our previous experience at this venue was not to write home about. We took a chance and it paid off! The place was packed and we were shown the last available table. Time was no problem so we just relaxed and studied the vast choice of gastronomic temptations written on the big black board! My friend chose the home made chicken and mushroom pie. I had the croissant! The back porch had a good vibe and the meal was well presented. We knew it would not be fast track, but the kind waitron kept us informed as to the progress of the pie in the oven!
It was a lovely meal! Congratulations to the new management! The meal was rounded off by the best coffee I have ever tasted in Montagu! We'll be back for sure!

“great country lunch stop”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

We stopped in for a late lunch and were impressed by the venue, great ambience and interesting decor. Service was prompt and friendly. Always makes a difference when the owner is happy to chat. The menu offered a wide selection of country style food and great salads.
I opted for a butternut and pear salad, It was a generous portion offering a tasty mix of flavours and textures. It made you feel as though you were eating food fresh from the field. My partner had the croque monsier which he felt was Ok. Clientele looked to be 25 and up - friends enjoying a country weekend. In addition to the restaurant there is a shop selling home baked cakes and other yummy goodies as well as craft items. Definitely worth a visit.
