We spent 2 nights in Pear Cottage and fortunately, having read Iloveshoesalot's review, took plenty of firewood, our own warm duvet, hotwater bottle and laptop with movies for the evening. We found the lighting rather poor and would suggest installing stronger globes!
The geese and ducks did make a noise and woke us up but that is part of the charm - rather ducks than traffic!
I would love to revisit in the warmer months but we were made very welcome and really enjoyed our visit.

Room Tip: If you want peace and quiet I would not recommend Pear Cottage - but if you dont mind the noise made by the ducks and geese - Pear Cottage is perfect for 2.

OVERALL: We visited in the dead of winter, which is not recommended, as the farm being on the mountain was bitterly cold. The Pear Cottage we stayed in was stunning. All the amenities we needed for self-catering, a fireplace inside and outside undercover braai were perfect. The location is relatively removed from any close towns, so be prepared to stay in for a relaxed weekend. I would suggest visiting in autumn,, spring or summer as there is much more to do!

SERVICE: We were greeted by our friendly hostess, Glenda. She was very informative and helpful and we bought some wood for the first freezing night. A strange thing to me is the notice in the cottage that we need to clean all our dishes and sweep the cottage before we depart. I have never stayed in a place that requires this and usually this is included in the daily rate. A bit weird.

AMENITIES and COTTAGE: Cottage had full cutlery crockery, microwave wine and champagne glasses, stove, toaster, kettle anything and everything you need. No TV. One of the best kitted out self-catering cottages we have stayed at and all the items were very high quality, which was unusual. The cottage itself was modern and of very high standards, the place was super clean when we arrived. We were however only given one extra blanket which was not sufficient and I would recommend bringing an extra blanket yourself it you don't want to freeze! The shower was the worst part of our trip. The water was either scolding hot or ice cold. We only used the shower once as it was unbearable. Not to mentioned the shower pressure, non-existent. Truly horrible!

SURROUNDINGS: The cottages are located on the side of the mountain the the picturesque Koo valley. The owners have about 50 geese. They welcome you when you arrive however beware....they scream about two hours before sunrise and continue until the sun is completely out. This was disappointing as we wanted to sleep in and relax on our weekend away. We ended up being woken up abruptly and unable to return to sleep. The farm also have emus and free range pigs as well as a brown sheep (completely tame) which were a treat to see.

VALUE: We got the accommodation on a deal so it was very reasonable.

We stayed here for one night and we had a blast! Hiked up to the orchard and found a an old building which made for great photos at sunset. We swam in the dam (and the pool) and the setup is perfect for family with kids or group of friends getting together. The Koo valley has great farm stalls and wine farms that have not yet been trampled by the masses where one still gets individual attention and pay a reasonable price. Love this place, going back soon!

Langdam's campsite was really nice and neat. The small amount of tent pitching areas available meant that it was quite and relaxed. Small details just made the weekend all the better. Hot water showers in clean bathrooms (with complimentary soap), a fully stocked shop just 2 mins walk from the campsite, a lapa for all guests to watch the game at and the really friendly and helpful people working on the farm ensured we had a brilliant time with nothing to worry about.

Room Tip: When camping remember to take extra blankets for the cold nights.
