We were on route from the Garden Route back to Cape Town planning to stay in Robertson when we stopped for coffee in a quaint coffee shop where the owner suggested we stayed in Montagu as he thought it was "better".
We literally looked in the small traveller’s booklet we had and found the four seasons. Luckily Carina had a room and we stayed in the smaller unit for two people and we were amazed at the standard of the furnishings and decor. White leather sofa / crisp white bedding ...........It was immaculate and the quality was better than the standard of many 5*European Hotels. (I should know I returned from one in Switzerland today). Carina had put fresh flowers in the room, home made cookies and a bottle of wine in the fridge. When we asked about the price, it was the least expensive of all the places we had stayed in the 15 days we were in South Africa
I saw the other rooms that were suitable for 4 people and they were good but not quite up to the stardard of the 1 bed unit which was exceptional. Montagu itself is quaint with some nice bars and restaurants and we did enjoy it a lot more than nearby Robertson.
