“Not for Business Use”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2013

Do not take "WIFI" for granted. It come and goes. And if it is there, bandwidth is negligible.
That might be true for many places in South Africa. But here, I experienced it to be worse.
No clue if one can do anything about it. But before someone will report s.th. positive about WIFI, I will not stay there a second time.

The rest is as the other recommending visitors say:
- friendly
- clean
- nice price/value ratio (for non business)

In the last days of december we stayed in the beautiful Garden Room of Makapa Lodge. The room was nicely decorated and the owners were very hospitable. Makapa Lodge is in a good location and from here you can explore the cape region and Capetown.

Makapa is well kept with comfortable, clean, well furnished rooms, nice relaxing garden, pool and tasty breakfast. Friendly and hospitable hosts. Convenient distance to several sites including Cape Point, Simonstown, Cape Town, lovely beaches and several restaurants and shops.

Room Tip: Family room available.

This is a very nice guesthouse situated in the hills above Kommetjie. It was lovely and cool, and the views are lovely.
The poolside suite is very comfortable, and the host are very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are plentiful and tasty.
A very relaxing and pleasant stay at the end of our holiday.

We spent 3 nights at Makapa Lodge towards the end of February 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our poolside suite was very comfortable and well furnished. It opened straight out on the patio area infront of the pool. The views from the room and from the breakfast balcony are breathtaking looking straight out over the Atlantic and Chapmans Peak. The local restaurants are excellent, we particularly enjoyed the Food Barn on the way to Noordhoek, just a 5 minute drive away from Makapa Lodge. There are many restaurants in Fish hoek which are less than 5 minutes drive. Makapa Lodge is a very peaceful haven yet very close to all the major attractions of the area. Nothing is too much trouble for Margaret and Ian and help you plan your day or your evening and are happy to book your reservations at local restaurants. We are hoping to visit the Cape Town area again in 2013 and certainly hope to join Margaret and Ian again.

Room Tip: Both the poolside suites have excellent views and easy access to the pool.

A big thank you to Margaret and Ian for helping our stay to be so great. The location, views, amenities and hospitality were first class. Very helpful advice as to where to eat locally, suitable time to visit Table Mountain, helping to book boarding cards etc.
As other reviews state, Makapa Lodge is ideally situated for visits to Cape Town and Cape Point and all other places inbetween. I wish we had been able to stay longer, then we could have relaxed in the lovely garden too.
Would love to stay again.
