“Simply can't wait to go back again”
Reviewed May 19, 2014

My wife and I repeated the visit of year ago which was for our Silver Wedding Anniversary. It was our fourth visit and after going last year said we might leave it for year, only to try something else but the temptation of a return to perfection and tranquility bewitched us! We stayed for six nights and just luxurirated in everything that is Al Maha.

And we were not disappointed from the reception form Alvin who new we wanted the most private suite (sorry this is a secret and I know it's Trip Advisor but there are limits). We were given a bottle of Champagne to celebrate our return and a cake plus a gift on leaving to celebrate our 26th Wedding.

The service and food were impeccable as normal it cant be topped the only problem is my wife saying we need to go for slightly longer next time while we are still under the spell.

By the way people do mention the cost but when compared to Maldives Hotels with rooms on stilts Al Maha is half the price and includes food, is more private, bigger and better with your own private infinity pool, etc.

So we will be back as soon as we can maybe next year Alvin.

As very seasoned travellers to Dubai and having stayed / in many fine establishments over the years. I can honestly say......I have not experienced anything that comes close to Al Maha. We have looked at it over the years and thought about going and then deciding...not sure about spending a week in the middle of a desert. What if the food isn't to our liking etc...there is no where else to go!
Well.....oh boy! Are we glad we booked. We stayed 6 nights in suite 3 which was perfect for us as there was only another 3 villas further up the path and the entrance was hidden slightly from the said path.
A quick mention here for the standard of Food served when booking....it's outstanding......You want Fillet steak for breakfast..no problem its on the breakfast menu / Gulf prawns for lunch ( Like something from Jurassic park...they are huge) or a Kobi beef burger? and once you have tried to digest all that, you have to go back for the 5 course dinner....6 days ate like royalty and nearly as many stone added to waist line. Believe you me you will make good use of your sun lounger at your Villa Pool to recover between courses...well done to all the Kitchen and Restaurant Folks!
Words fail me to explain just how special this Hotels location is...you are constantly in awe staring at the desert scene all around you....Oryx and Gazelles drinking from your pool...lost count on the bird life and a few other furry friends going about. What about a bit of Horse riding in the desert early in the morning? No problem thats included as well! Jeep safari , camel riding, Falconery???? Yes... included as well.
The beds are huge and very comfy needless to say you can pick from the pillow menu!
You cannot be bothered to drag yorself to the restaurant????...No problem..room service come to you....but not the usual tray being delivered..oh no! Waiter / fully dressed table and everything laid out for you.....for no extra charge! Never have I been anywhere else in the world that this was the case and everting in warm straight from the restaurant.
Without a shadow of any doubt this place would be idea for single travellers but especially couples....looking to book something better...you wont find it!
Just go...it will be easier to understand what I am trying to explain here

Room Tip: Rooms 1 - 3 if you don't like many folks passing by.

We stayed here for one night after our legal wedding at the Embassy. The service was incredible - from champagne on arrival to the rose petal bath with personalised notes & arrows in our room to the fantastic sunset with the desert tour guide. The personal touches were charming and much appreciated. Highly recommend for special celebrations.

When you stayed in a starwood property, there's a lot of expectation to anticipate. And Al Maha have given us what we are expecting for, or should i say have given us more than what we are expecting for from this kind of amazing place. They have simply blown me away with the whole experience. The place was incomparable, its perfect for people who wAnts to get away from the city of skyscraper and wants to be away from any noise and wants to be alone. Privacy, quiet, relaxing, name it, you got it.. Once you stayed here, you will feel like you are alone in the middle of the desert. The place is very natural and you will feel closer to the nature. You will see some animals such as Oryx even right in front of your doorstep! It was amazing! The service and the staff are simply amazing. They always anticipates for your needs and are very willing to help. The staff in Al Diwaan restaurant stands out for me. Thanks for always looking after us. The food were fantastic with enoughvariety of choices. The resort also offers lots of interesting activities and the field guide will really take care of you. The place exudes the arabian experience.. Nothing i have ever experienced here in dubai before..

Room Tip: All the rooms are 100% privacy guaranteed. The rooms are verybig and comfortable and all rooms has a...

Where to begin. The staff are absolutely fantastic as is the food, resort, facilities, location. A definite "must" on your to do list. We stayed for 10 fabulous nights and returned yesterday 14th May. Next time we intend to stay for longer. We met all the management, had a tour of the kitchens, watched a falconry display, went for dune buggy rides, camel ride to watch the sunset and of course went to the spa (which is a must). I was taken ill whilst there and they even took me to the hospital. We didn't get back until late and certainly did not expect to have a meal. We were astounded when they cooked us a meal at 10:20pm! The gift shop is also a must.

I am counting the days when we can return.

Room Tip: Room 40 is right at the end of the suites and gives a fantastic view of the desert and also a wonder...

The thought of having to write this review filled me with dread, deciding which points to highlight and omit was a real battle. So I am just going to “brain dump” and tell you about our experience at the Al Maha.

Driving through the imposing gates is reminiscent of a scene from Jurassic Park, the 13 kilometre drive to the hotel entrance gives you a taster of the wondrous sites your visit has in store for you. On arrival at the main hotel building we were greeted by a large body of staff, including our reserve guides, the welcome was overwhelming to say the least, but we immediately felt like we were about to embark on an adventure and not a hotel stay!

We were introduced to various members of staff, were given some detailed hotel information, before being our Reserve Guides Gerhard and Craig took centre stage , they explained the unique experiences and activities available to us during our stay, it felt like we were on a big game safari rather than checking in to a luxury hotel, as seasoned travellers we found this experience to be quite unique.

We were then taken to our suite via golf cart, the drive through the narrow paths was full of wonderment, the Arabian Oryx and Gazelles just meandered through the reserve without a care in the world, and were completely indifferent to the golf carts and humans in awe of their presence. The suites have been cleverly sited in order to hide their presence from each other, and offer a great deal of privacy. Our suite was sumptuously appointed, with every amenity you could dream of, the bed was absolutely spectacular, huge in size and supremely comfortable. Our pool (as I am sure with all the private pools at the Al Maha) had the most outrageous unobstructed view of the desert, watching the Oryx and Gazelles come and drink out our pool was a site to behold.

We stayed a total of five days at the Al Maha, and it was a real mix of relaxing and adventure, the desert drive, falconry and sunset tour are an absolutely must. Gerhard and Craig made us feel completely safe, and were really good fun, and Fiona can really dance too! Mira made us feel very welcome, and like nothing was too much trouble.

The food at the Al Maha was exceptionally nice, and it was good to see such ingredients as Kobe beef and the like on a full board basis, room service was excellent too, if I had to make one criticism it would be the variety when it came to dinner wasn't as good as I'd hoped. Having dinner in the outside restaurant is amazing, very romantic, and gazing of the lit watering hole whilst having dinner is a breathtaking experience.

Staying here is something very, very special, I recommend it without hesitation.

This was our third visit to Al Maha and we were just as overwhelmed with the beauty and serenity of this resort as the first time. The staff is amazing and makes one feel so at home. The food is well-prepared and the chefs are flexible with guest requests. Not once did I hear a 'no' to any of our requests to the staff - everything is possible!!!

Thanks to the staff, especially Dhan at the restaunt who kept us entertained with all kinds of stories and had the patience to listen to ours. Esther at the spa gave me the two most wonderul massages I have ever had and even sent me off with some physical therapy excersizes that I will make practice of. Darryn, Nicole, Craig, Shibam and Werner were guides of extrodinary talent full of information and very patient with their guests.

All I can say is, we will definitely be returning - rather sooner than later!!

Room Tip: All of the suites are beautiful and have a direct view of the desert, we always stay in either 6 or...
