We came here for dinner and breakfast, both times the staff were so nice and friendly. The food was perfect, a must try is the mussels and pork belly. Food is well priced. Great place to come to start your day or end your night. Very happy!

There are few places in Otorohanga to have a memorable meal in town. Thirsty Weta seemed to be the only restaurant/store with more than 2 people in it and many other eateries close around 5pm. It's a place to eat that has a somewhat unique and fun vibe relative to the rest of the town. A little pricey...but not outrageous. Food was tasty and service friendly and quick. The bartender/waiter gave us a picture book on wetas which we enjoyed reading while waiting for our food. Nice little place to have some drinks and watch rugby.

We arrived in Otorohanga just before 2pm, very hungry, and looking for somewhere nice for lunch. After a search up & down the main street, The Thirsty Weta looked by far the best option. Despite it being right on 2pm by now, they were happy to let us order from the breakfast/lunch menu which finished at 2pm.

The food was very good - presentation was not that great - but the quality and taste more than made up for this. We were impressed.

my partner took me here for dinner and the overall experience was very poor.we had made a reservation for dinner.
the bar person that served us initially did not seem at all happy to be serving us.
we had finished our first drink before we were brought a menu to look at.
we were not asked again if we would like another drink.
the meals were of appropriate size and average pricing for what we expected.
however, they were very average and bland and my meal was cold.
we were not approached again to see if the meals were ok and we had to go back to the bar and order a second drink.. to sum up, very disappointing experience and shocking service and below average quality food. this was not the first time we had been here, but will probably be the last..not a place i will be recommending.

friendly staff, affordable & yummy food.
The choice of meals was good & the food came in a timely manner. Nice atmosphere & easy to find on main street.
