Very nice visit and the animals looked well looked after and happy. The only thing they could have done with was a Cafe not just a coffee machine but even so that did not spoil our visit

Thank Jann W

Thanks for your helpful feedback. We'd love to establish a cafe here too, but for now our development funds need to be devoted to the animals and their habitats...it's definitely on our radar though!

Visited the Kiwi House with our two young children who were very excited to go from enclosure to enclosure. It was a wee bit drizzly but umbrellas were available which was great. While we had expected to see more Kiwi than we actually did, at least you could actually find them and get a good look at them, unlike some places we've been to where it's too dark to see them or there is too much vegetation in the way. Lots of other birds to look at. Enclosures were clean and the birds looked well cared for. My son particularly enjoyed seeing the big eel as well!
Took us about an hour to get around and liked how there was only one track to follow, so you didn't have to worry about missing anything out or figuring out which way to go.

This was the first place to bred Kiwis in captivity. They do it well. The bird aviary is also worth a look.

The range of native New Zealand birds was good, and being able to observe the kiwi and morepork in the nocturnal house a real bonus

What a lovely place. We have seen one of the Kiwi-birds from close. In addition special birds, reptiles, and beautiful plants and trees.

Friendly staff with a commitment to the environment.
