The Kamahi Cottage is located on absolutely stunning grounds. We stayed at the cabin as a base for our activities
In the Waitomo caves. The cottage and grounds are beautiful. There are hammocks outside to lie on. The interior has a lovely kitchen stocked with supplies
For tea and coffee. We ordered dinner through the owner Liz who makes very tasty five star meals. We really enjoyed our stay at the Kamahi cottage with our only regret being that we did not stay longer. The breakfast made by Liz in the morning was absolutely amazing and she was so helpful with maps in sending us off to our next destination. The cottage sleeps four so it is a great option for a group however we were just 2 and enjoyed the stay very much. Would highly recommend it as a starting place for your Waitomo Caves adventures!

A beautiful spot to relax with a glass of wine and watch the sun set over the land below. Delicious Muffins were waiting for us when we arrived - Liz I need the recipe! The cottage is a perfect size for 2, probably a squash for 4. Upstairs the bed was luxurious and very comfortable with lovely heavy curtains for those that want to lie in in the morning! Those with mobility issues may find the stairs up to the bedroom steep but for us that wasnt a problem. The meal Liz prepared for us was outstanding and delivered to the cottage at the time we wanted it - what service! We had breakfast over in the house with Evan and Liz next morning. Again, every breakfast item you could desire and lovely conversation with our excellent hosts. If you are looking for comfort and serenity, with as much or as little privacy as you desire, this is the spot.

This place is absolute heaven. Liz is the most wonderful hostess and her culinary delights never failed to amaze us. I would recommend this place whole-heartedly to anyone traveling in New Zealand - make a detour if this is not en route. The most relaxing place ever. I almost don't want to let others know about this gem and let the secret out. Evan's serenade with the bagpipes on top of the hill was beautiful and we fell in love with Cocoa the cat. Can't praise this place enough.

My wife and I spent our first night in New Zealand at this great cottage. It was exactly what we needed after a long flight, lost luggage, and learning to drive on the left side of the road. The cottage was "home" right away. Liz served us a fantastic dinner in the cottage that evening, allowing us to wind down and relax. Everything in the cottage was perfect. The next morning we had a fabulous breakfast with Liz and Evan. Wish we could have spent more time with them! Thanks so much.

My daughter and a friend and I stayed at Kamahi in Jan of this year, 2012. This is the most beautiful and relaxing stay at a Bed and Breakfast that I've ever experienced. We not only had a gourmet breakfast, but also had dinner the night before. Gourmet all the way! Evan played the bagpipes as we arrived for dinner. Liz accommodated our time for dinner as we had gone to the Gloworm Caves. She also added some fresh, delicious oysters for us! Yum! This will definitely be on our list for our next trip from the states to New Zealand! Thank you Liz and Evan!

Room Tip: Oops, no swimming pool. Best B&B ever!

Kamahi Cottage is simply beautiful with a rustic farm atmosphere. The cottage is warm and welcoming and has quality linen and fixtures. Lis and Evan are most gracious hosts, and Lis, simply put, is a Cor Don Bleu cook who produces beautiful cuisine, easily and without fuss. The view from the cottage is stunning with with panoramic views of the whole of Otorohanga and south to the King Country. The host's garden has walkways and exquisite planting, and is very restful to walk around with a glass of wine in hand, or to simply sit on a garden chair and enjoy the view. We would definitely recommend Kamahi Cottage to our friends and will be back!!! The cottage is so refreshing to come home to after a day of sight-seeing around the Waitomo district.

Thanks so much for your generous feedback. I really can't pretend to be a cordon bleu chef, but I do love cooking and experimenting with new dishes, especially if guests have special occasions they want to celebrate!

I didn't know that places this beautiful actually existed. The cottage is even more beautiful than it looks in pictures. Liz is the most amazing cook ever and it was so easy to do some really interesting things locally as she set it all up for us!
