Waitomo Caves Guest Lodge
Certificate of Excellence

Waitomo Caves Guest Lodge was the best place to stay-- we so enjoyed our two day stay in a lovely cabin with a deck and outside table and chairs -- right next to a bushed area with lovely birds singing. Our cabin was well equipped, lots of room, and very clean and even had some special treats. The gardens that surround the Guest Lodge are ever so beautiful with a vast variety of flowering plants... the most incredible roses! It is indeed a gardener's delight. The hosts of the Guest Lodge were awesome-- very welcoming and provided us with much knowledge and information about the area. They lead us to some beautiful walks and cave adventures. Our breakfast was great --- cereals, yohurt, toast, coffee, tea, various jams/honey, fresh fruit and much more. It was an absolute delight to stay at Waitomo Caves Guest Lodge B&B. We highly recommend this accommodation to everyone!

Had the top room (of 8) with a great view. Colin and Janet (& Gypsy the dog) were excellent hosts who were willing to answer any question and make time for just idle chatter. Janet's garden was extensive for the size of the lot and quite beautiful, especially the roses. One of the two most relaxing stays in all of our New Zealand trip. Centrally located in this village (population - 40!) and only a 5 minute or less walk from all three restaurants. Make your reservation well in advance because with their reviews they are going to be full all summer - certainly were when we were there and we booked in June. Just be aware of the steep driveway and stairs to the highest room.

We had a great time at Waitomo, made memorable by our stay at the Waitomo Caves Guest Lodge. Colin and Janet gave us the top front room (which you see in all the photos) and it was excellent - very comfortable bed, well equipped and more than enough room. And the view was also well worth it, looking down the valley, not to mention our friendly families of sparrows to help with a gentle wake up call each morning.

Colin has been on many of the local cave tours and has his favorites he is happy to tell you about to help make your decision about what to do and where to go. To top it off, he and Janet are great hosts, very welcoming and have a really tops place to stay. Thanks to you both.

We happened upon this wonderful B&B by chance -- we made a last-minute itinerary change to go through Waitomo and we're so glad we did!! It was one of the best B&B experiences we've had -- incredible views, beautiful rooms (complete with tea-making amenities and home-baked treats), a delicious breakfast, and wonderful and helpful hosts. The location couldn't be better -- just a short drive from the caves and tour companies and walking distance to restaurants, including a delightful pub. We would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling through New Zealand!

Very friendly welcome and very helpful hosts who advised us on the best tours in the area and then booked it for us. Our twin room contained one queen bed and one single with ensuite bathroom. This guest house is on a fairly steep block with quite a few steps but Colin was very happy to help carry my mother's bags up to our room for her. The gardens are beautiful as is the entire local area. Breakfast was excellent and again Colin helped with the luggage on the way down. Guests are given some of Colin's homemade biscuits which are delicious. Gypsy the dog makes sure nobody sneaks up on the house! Free car parking is available. The views from our room were breathtaking.

Surrounded by really beautiful gardens, this has got to be an oasis in Waitomo! Greeted by Gypsy and then Colin I was made to feel at home immediately. Colin was really helpful with lots of suggestions for places to visit and things to do.

As a single female traveller it was very nice to be made so welcome and at home. Would highly recommend a visit here.
