We drove over here after exploring the glow worms. After a short walk through the forest, you're greeted with some beautiful falls. If you're in the area checking out the glow works, it's definitely worth a quick drive to check it out.

After a pretty walk through the forest we were surprised to see the strength of the falls, showing NZ's generous supply of water.

This water falls is about a 30 minute drive from Waitomo Caves, very near Te Anga. It is a short 5 minute walk from the car park on a well maintained trail. You end up on a viewing platform which gives you a great view of the falls. This is one of the prettier water falls we saw in New Zealand. Well worth the effort.

This is a short drive from the Waitomo hotel and well worth the visit. The pathways are well kept and makes access easy. The falls are really beautiful and not widely known. The sheer size and beauty of the falls in the NZ unspoiled bush merit a visit.

I had read about Marokopa falls before our trip to Waitomo and on the day we had planned to visit the falls, the weather was terrible. We still ventured out and after covering 31 km (which seemed like 300 km!) in howling winds and wet conditions, reached the off road parking to walk to the falls. The size of the falls and the volume of water just comes as a surprise and this would go down as one of the most majestic, yet not talked about frequently natural landmarks in NZ. In the middle of nowhere, not touristy, unexplored, so that adds to the charm. Please make sure you wear a rain jacket even in good weather as the spray from the waterfall will surely wet your clothes!
