A lovely walk through rainforest & caves following clearly defined walkways. A fairly easy walk with a few steps to negotiate at various points. It took more than the signposted 30 minutes, allow at least an hour. There are plenty of photo ops. Oh & did I mention it is free!!!!

An enjoyable tour on what was a wet morning. Pleasant informative young guide.
Time allowed for tour states 2 hours but that includes bus transport to and from the caves and also depends on how many questions are asked by the visitors. So about 1.5 hrs actually in the cave. Special prices sometimes available in the quite times. Also 10% discount vouchers available in some tourist booklets
Recommend seeing the FREE scenic bush walk in daylight and either waiting or returning after dark to see the glow worms.

We walked the Ruakuri bush walk twice in the same day. The daytime walk was a great adventure for the kids and stunning scenery for the adults. It's an easy walk for all ages. New Zealand really is a beautiful place, and to be able to experience places like this for free is a real treat. We went back that evening to see the "wild" glow worms. Another adventure for us all.

It is worth to visit Ruakuri bushwalk twice a day! In daytime, the caves were gorgeous and the track was well maintained. At night, you can see the glowworm lighting on the cliff. awesome!!

We had a free afternoon between tours and came here for a pleasant walk. Like other people have said - even though the sign says 30 minutes, take much longer. The hike is beautiful, taking you through the temperate rainforest and through tunnels and is not that strenuous. It's a 10 minute drive from town to the beginning of the trail.
We then came back that evening and about 5-10 minutes into the trail there is an area with many glowworms!!
