Very interesting. Wish we had seen some black water rafters doing their thing but still really good and suitable for all ages. Fully wheelchair friendly access is impressive.

The only negative about the trip was the lack of information on where to check in for our tour and the delay we had before the bus turned up.

They cave itself was fantastic, lots of great photo opportunities - as long as you don't use a flash. Our guide was fantastic with the kids I took, ranging in age from 7 to 12, and answering their hundreds of questions. Absolutely fascinating formations and ofcourse the glow worms. A group of blackwater rafters went through when we were down there and listening to their whooping and hollering of enjoyment, I'm putting that trip on my to-do list. There were a couple of families along with toddlers and babies and they were a little over it before the tour was finished.

We signed up to do the Waitomo Cave & the Ruakuri Cave tours. Ruakuri Cave was definitely the better tour and while the Waitomo Cave was neat in its own way, after doing this cave it is unnecessary.

The 2 hour tour included walking down a large man-made spiral walkway which was in itself pretty neat. Then you walk through the cave, hear underwater falls, see interesting formations and a couple fossils, and you also get to see glow worms up close. They are very little and are very difficult to photograph (though the glow can show up on camera).

Our tour guide was great. I don't remember her name but she did a great job explaining the formations, the glow worms, and the history of the caves. She kept the tour very interesting and allowed us more than enough time for photo ops. We found it amusing though that throughout the tour she would advertise other, more extreme cave tours.

The tour was fun and worth the cost. If you only have time to do one tour, definitely do this one. You will get the most bang for your buck.

This was a fantastic visit. The tour guide was great, the tour group was small so we could hear everything he said and answered any questions put to him. The cave was very interesting inside and the glow worms were spectacular. You could use your camera and the tour guide took an individual one of every family group who was there with their cameras.

We were allowed to take photos in this cave, although using the flash in most places is discouraged. Nevertheless, we got to photograph some beautiful cave formations and got to see glowworms up close. This cave is wheelchair and stroller accessible, and the spiral entrance was amazing! Our tour guide Rachel really knew her stuff and was bubbly and friendly, and made this experience even better! She even took photos of each family with their own cameras so we would all have a reminder!
