Owner description: World renowned and a magnet for both local and overseas visitors, the world-famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves have been guided since 1889 and occupy a high place in the New Zealand vacation wish-list. Stare in wonder at the thousands of illuminating glowworms above as you glide silently by boat through the glowworm grotto. Many of our current guides are descendants of the Maori chief who originally explored the cave and can share with you the remarkable history of the area. Marvel at Mother Nature's light display as you glide silently through the starry wonderland of the Glowworm Grotto. Meander underground along the Waitomo River and gaze in silence at the myriad of glow worm lights that make up the Glowworm Grotto. As you enter this galaxy of tiny living lights, you'll immediately experience a serene ambience and be fascinated and intrigued by tiny glowworms that light your way.

Great to see and guide was informative. Loved the boat trip on the water to see more of the glow worms. The kids were amazed.

Neil is a great guide. He's sociable and knowledgeable throughout the 2 hour tour.

The tickets are little overpriced. It was an interesting tour but no value for amount paid. Something you visit once and forget about.

We take a number of groups to Waitomo and the Legendary Black Water rafting company really showcased the Waitomo caves just brilliantly. With a variety of activity and tour options there is something that would suit any age, agility level etc. The stff are energetic, informative and professional. Highly recommend it.

We took the 3 cave tour - the Glowworm, Aranui and Ruakuri Caves. The Glowworm cave was really neat - the life cycle of the Glowworm is interesting and there were LOTS to see - just beautiful! The Aranui cave had beautiful stalagmites and cathedral. The Ruakuri cave was a combination of the 2 and my favorite, although there weren't as many glowworms in this cave. I definitely recommend visiting the caves.

Careful planning has been put into presenting and preserving this natural wonderland. This is a wonderful place that is receiving careful maintence to assure that future visitors will also be able to enjoy it.
It does really amaze one though that some visitors will not obey the instructions to tunr off the camera. They have to think that rules apply only to others.
