“Poor Value”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2012

Like many others I guess, we stayed one night (Dec 1st) after our flight from the UK to shake out the jet lag. The hotel is a pretty typical reps palace. Staff were friendly and helpful and the place has a small clean pool area which we were too tired to use !. Rooms are typical motel fare, small and pretty depressing but reasonably well equipped with TV, fridge & hot drinks equipment. Room was clean & tidy and to be honest we were too tired to notice much else. Took breakfast next morning in the pleasant bistro area. Not much to write home about except the undrinkable coffee and the price ($15 each) !. This hotel was pretty expensive ($160) considering its location way out of central Perth alongside a busy main road but we think this just reflects Perth prices which were much higher than elsewhere in Australia we stayed ( we booked a four star hotel in central Melbourne with far superior facilities & location for the same price which included two free drinks and breakfast plus late check out.- see our review of the Rendevous Melbourne).

Room Tip: Go for a room at the rear of the motel to avoid traffic noise from the busy Great Eastern Highway

We stayed here for one night after flying into Perth for the start of our holiday. We had a family room which was a double and a single but both were very comfortable. Nice hard mattress. The room was very clean and had everything we needed for a short stay (one night). We ate in the hotel restaurant and had a very good meal - nice and fresh and quick service. This is a great hotel to stay in on the way to somewhere. We went down to the Margaret River Region the next day having had a very good nights sleep.

This hotel does not represent value for money.

Positives
The hotel offers a pickup service for both the domestic and international airports. It also offers a drop-off service although this is on hourly increments and not on demand.

Negatives
The rooms (I was moved from one room to another.) were cramped, old and 'tired' although there were new, albeit small, tv's.
The pillows and bedding smelled like cigarette smoke and the beds were very hard.
The internet was both pricey ($11 per hour; $22 per day) and inefficient: The ethernet cable wouldn't lock into my laptop in either room.

The rooms are overpriced, which somewhat reflects the Perth market. That said, this accommodation does not represent value for money.

Room Tip: Book somewhere else...

We arrived at Perth International Airport around 5.30 PM after a long flight from the UK. A quick call brought the courtesy bus some 20 minutes later. The young girl driver got us to the hotel in around 10 minutes to be greeted by chaotic scenes as guests vied with chance callers to book in during a night of tropical rain and thunder. The hotel was clearly full and it took a while to secure our prebooked room. This was some 200 yards away across a dark and wet car park.

The room was clean but pretty basic. essentially we crashed out without trying the restaurant or other facilities. Heavy rain woke us from time to time as we slept fitfully. An early checkout precluded breakfast but the shuttle was ready and waiting and we got away before 6.30 to travel to the domestic terminal for our onward journey. The hotel clearly benefits from the closeness of the airport but is really little more than a roadside motel.

Room Tip: Not too far from Reception.

Stayed here after flying back from Learmonth, en route to Adelaide. Airport transfers were very efficient. We had a quiet unit at the back of the site. It was very clean, recently refurbished and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant, not expecting very much - but it was surprisingly good. But it was very popular so do book on arrival if you want to eat in. I recommend this hotel if you need a place to stay near Perth airport.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room away from the road.

I stayed here twice for 2 brief overnights in Perth. On the first occasion it took ages to check in and for some strange reason the front desk would not accept my payment in advance, therefore at 5am the next morning a long queue delayed my departure. On my second visit the shuttle was full, and also the front desk would not accept my Qantas card until checkout. Most places like to get money upfront...not here. Because of the high occupancy rate they really couldn't care less. Also very expensive for a basic room with an old style "window-rattler" air conditioner requiring earmuffs to be used. Definitely more competition is needed to stimulate good customer service here. I will avoid this place in future as it is overpriced, does not provide shuttle service when needed and has poor customer service. 2 stars.

A pretty standard chain/budget-style hotel. Pre-booking worked well, reception OK, airport transfer efficient and taxi booking line worked well. Room was basic but clean and comfortable.
I would use it again as a place for an overnighter before an early-morning flight or after a late-night arrival. Good that we could have a three-bedded room too.

Room Tip: Keep away from front - traffic noise and lights from signs a little intrusive
