Chateau Elan is a newish upmarket hotel in the Hunter Valley region. We stayed in a standard room on the bottom floor of villa 9. There are 10 villas with about 8 rooms in each. We stayed on a sunday and monday night and it was very quiet, there wasn't anyone else staying in our villa at that time.
The rooms are quite large and well appointed with nice furnishings, lovely bathrooms and very comfortable, big beds. Overall the hotel complex has everything you need. There is a great restaurant and bar, pool, spa and of course the golf course. We had a great stay in this hotel, the staff were all friendly and we got a fantastic price by using a popular website and not being choosy about our stay dates.

We went to Chateau Elan for my 50th birthday celebrations. It met all of our expectations and the service levels from everyone we came into contact with were excellent. All staff were knowledgeable, friendly and responsive. The General Manager picked up on the occasion and helped to provide an unforgettable experience with plenty of attention (not too much though) and made me feel special. The spa treatment was excellent, just what was needed. The courtesy car to and from the local restaurant was a bonus. Legends Grill for dinner was a class above what we expected (really good menu - not pub food), although we did not have breakfast there. It was nice to walk from the Villa across the manicured lawn to the restaurant, amongst the kangaroo's who were plentiful. The course is good too, if you have time between wineries and other attractions this region has to offer. Don't just go to Elan for the golf, it is more than that. Nothing but positive from this happy customer.

Room Tip: The upstairs, corner villa rooms appear best for privacy and outlook over the golf course and to hin...

This is a very high end, quality place to stay. We stayed in a room in Villa 3, overlooking the gold course. Lot's of kangaroo's (or were they wallabies?) to look at out the window!

Bedding was amazingly comfortable. Room was a very big size with plenty of comfy furniture and big tv. Bathroom you could get lost in with nice bath and shower.

Service was very very friendly. Breakfast was tasty and well priced. Chateau Elan is very well placed in the Hunter Valley with lot's of good wine tasting close by and the Hunter Valley Gardens up the road.

Room service was good but they mixed up the order. Slight problem on checkout with an incorrect charge which took some convincing for them to fix up but overall a very classy and relaxing place to stay!

Actually that is a lie, Goof is terribly highly educated and still couldn't do it, perhaps too much wine tasting that afternnoon! But not to worry, pity tho that the staff took forty mins and 3 phone calls to show us how, and another 40 to find us a bath plug!!. Fires and plugs aside, the apartment was great, clean, spacious and modern. Lovely outdoor area, easy walk over to the Clubhouse for lunch and the spa treatments were sublime. Would return (with spare plug...just in case).

This hotel is well located in the hunter region - close to a number of excellent restaurants and vineyards in the area. Our spa villa was spacious and very clean, overlooking the golf course and the wallabies who freely graze on the course. Bed was extremely comfortable (it's not often that I comment on hotel beds!) and kitchen reasonably equipped for self catering. The room was in a complex of 8 and the balconies were not that private (plus we could clearly hear some 'hanky panky' in a nearby room - some might consider that a bonus?!)

Service was very good and proactive on occasions e.g. the courteous lady who organised our booking suggested some good restaurants in the area and made reservations for us, organised a shuttle bus to one of them - and she also booked my husband in for a round of golf. She confirmed all the reservations and everything happened very smoothly. Other staff members were polite and always acknowledged us when passing.

The room service menu was a bit disappointing - very limited choice; and their cafe always seemed to be closed. The Legends Grill restaurant - 5 minute walk (associated with the Accor establishment and the golf club) was excellent for dinner, but disappointing for breakfast where service was a bit lax and the food a bit 'sloppy' - suggest you prepare your own breakfast if you have a kitchenette.

Overall, great location, courteous service, clean room and a good restaurant walking distance for an excellent steak for dinner - our pick for a pleasant weekend stay in the Hunter. Oh and the other half enjoyed his round of golf too!

Room Tip: Spa villas have a kitchenette - great for preparing those small meals on occasion.

If you like things American, you'll love the Elan. If not, you'll be disappointed like we were. There was only one girl on reception when we arrived and the customer involved had issues with his bill hence we waited quite a while before we could actually check in. Not a good start. We asked about the Spa facilities only to be told that there was no availability AT ALL, but we were offered a slot 3 hours after we were due to check out...
The room - The room when we got there was massive, although finding all the light switches and where the switches were was confusing. In particular, you had to switch the main room light on before you could switch the bathroom light on??? A large, large space in both the bedroom and bathroom but so much wasted space. If you have stayed at a proper 5 Star Hotel such as the Sofitel, you know what to expect. Robes, Slippers, Spa Bath fit for two and a coffee maker in the room. The Elan offers no slippers, no robes, a small spa bath (for one) and instant coffee.
the devil is in the details and I'm sorry but the Elan falls well short of my expectations for a 5 star Resort. You don't need the quantity, but you need quality. Never mind the bucket of Starbucks Coffee, enjoy a small Italian espresso!

but if you love the starbucks, then you'll love the elan!

Room Tip: Good views over the golf course and keep an eye out for the 'roos.

We stayed at Chateau Élan very recently and had a perfect weekend. The reception staff were excellent as well as the concierge . Who greeted us warmly, helped with our bags and golf clubs.
Our room had a great view over the golf course, and complete with spa bath and mini bar. Everything looked new and clean. The best bit was the king size bed with zero gravity and massage option.
Breakfast was okay, as it seems with every where you have to pay for a decent cup of coffee. But the breakfast buffet had all that you needed and was only a short walk away from our room.
There are heaps of restaurants near by but we did have dinner at The Vintage one night and the service was excellent, food tasty and quite good. We had the steak and a Fijian curry which was yummy.
Golf is good here and watch out for the magpie on the first hole!
Very good service from every one at the resort. Even driving us next door to Bimbadgen for dinner.
Thank you.
