My husband and I stayed over night in a Spa Villa for our Wedding Anniversary, room was nice and comfortable, the bed was a little hard as were the pillows and the lounge couch, it did have all you needed but just did not have anything that made it feel it was worth the price for one night that we paid for, there was not even flowers in the room. Reception were not that friendly at check in, they did help with a dinner menu later in the evening but once we saw the prices for the food we decided to go out for dinner. We took a drive down the road and came across "Potters Brewery" which has great food and a good selection of drinks and is family friendly and very reasonable prices. We had breakfast at restaurant which was nice but not anything like a 5* Hotel. As for golf, The course is well maintained, but be warned if players in front of u are slow, there is not much you can do, also as for the "Greg infamous Norman 8th" hole use a 5 iron if you want to attack the green and make par.
Will we stay they again? No.

Have just returned from our second stay at Chateau Élan in the last 12 months and our experience was again a good one. Room was great - very comfortable bed and nice surroundings. It is such a peaceful location and the outlook from the balcony was lovely. The Chateau staff were professional and friendly. Agree with a couple of earlier reviews that the mini bar (fridge) temp is a bit of an unusual arrangement for hotel style accom but apart from this all was great. We had the buffet breakfast each morning on our last stay which was fairly standard but still fine. We opted not to do that this time and looked for places around the area for breakfast-just to get out and see more while we were there. We did have lunch at the cafe on one day. Many of the same staff were still there from our last visit and were just as friendly, polite and helpful as our previous stay - they also turn out a very nice take away coffee!!
The area is a great place for a long weekend - full of sensational restaurants - and we would definitely return to the Chateau if we get the opportunity to visit the Hunter again.

Room Tip: Have stayed in the Spa Suites and in the Villas and both good. Villas are a bit further away from e...

This is a high quality, very well maintained property with capable, friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was excellent and the bed was the most comfortable I have slept in for a very long time.

My partner enjoyed the beautiful spa and the capable therapist - we've found that spas in regional areas often have poor people but this wasn't the case here

My only criticism is that the decoration is maybe a little sparse, in that some more soft furnishing such as cushions and art are required.

We're looking forward to returning soon.

Room Tip: Upper levels have better outlook and privacy, but still benefit from a large terrace

My partner and I recently stayed at the Chateau Elan for 2 nights. We were both extremely satisfied with all aspects of this beautiful resort.

The staff were always helpful and willing, the spa suite we stayed in was amazing, the bed was so comfortable and the room was clean and well furnished. We dined in the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner and the meals were great. We also had the pleasure of being treated at the beauty spa and had the most amazing massage of our lives (struggled to stay awake during it as we were so relaxed!)

This was our first trip away without our children and we could not have chosen a more beautiful and relaxed place to stay at in the Hunter Valley.

I read some of the negative reviews on this site before we booked and I am so glad I didn't take notice of them because this place is truly 5 stars, how anyone could fault it I do not know!

We will definitely try to stay at the Chateau Elan annually from here on.

wow!!!! Chateau Elan Hunter Valley ia truly a magical place. My husband and i had the pleasure of staying in a Spa Suite recently. Words cannot describe how impressed we both were. The room itself was superb. Spotlessly clean and well maintained. The ladies who clean these rooms must be applauded for their efforts. The Thalgo amenities were just beautiful, as was every aspect of our room. The view from our balcony was absolutely "breath-taking!!!"
The Front Desk were extremely friendly and willing to help at all times - from parking our car to delivering ice to our room. Nothing was a bother. Definately 5 star service.....
We dined at Legends for lunch and dinner and found it amazing. The food and service was fantastic.
To sum it up we loved this place and could fault nothing, other than our stay wasn't long enough!!
We have stayed at Crowne Plaza and although it was nice - it has certainly found a huge competitor only 5 minutes up Wine Country Drive -Chateau Elan.
When next travelling in the Hunter do yourself a favour and choose this property. We guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Great stuff Chateau Elan- 11/10! Management are certainly doing something right at this place...

We just arrived home from Chateau Elan today after two nights there - our second stay at this hotel and really liked it!!

Would summarise as follows:

ROOM – This time we stayed in a villa room which consists of a bedroom combined with lounge area and little courtyard area with table and chairs. The bathroom was huge with a spa bath and separate shower. Bath was great!! We absolutely loved the room - the only down side was no robe or slippers (however when we asked for these from reception they were delivered immediately). I also have to add that the king bed was AMAZZZING! Had the best sleep ever on it (although did bring my own pillow after reading previous comments).

STAFF – The staff were fabulous! We asked the staff to book shuttles for restaurant dinners on both nights and the staff arranged this quickly and were really helpful. They also arranged a great wine tour for us with little notice from us. In general they were friendly, helpful and efficient. Very happy with the service.

FACILITIES – The hotel was a great location – close to restaurants and wineries and the cheese shop etc. However, we thought the pool wasn’t that big, and there wasn’t a lot of room to lie out there. Otherwise, the spa is amazing – last time we came we had a couples massage (a little pricey, but price was expected for the quality of the spa).

FOOD – we didn’t eat at the restaurant this time (even for breakfast). Last time we did have the breakfast there (buffet) and didn’t think it was all that good. Also, it was something like $35 or more which we thought was a lot for the buffet breakfast.

OVERALL – all in all we had a great stay! The staff were helpful and friendly, the room was clean, and spacious and the location was great too. Will go back for sure!

Room Tip: Ground floor villa had a great outdoor area opening onto golf course - great for sitting outside wit...

Stayed with hubby, 3yr old and newborn baby last year. We had a two bedroom villa on the ground floor to share with a relative. Very unique set up.. One front door opens in to a mini hallway(common area) To two separate doors which lead into a single open planned room (which is humungously big) , and the other door opens to place more suited for families...kitchen, separate bedroom, dining area, breakfast area, tv area, and a fireplace. Both sides have access to 180deg views of the beautiful peaceful golf course which stretches for miles ahead of you.

There are other apartments directly above (two storey set up)...you dont have any other patrons' noise....at all! I requested a rollaway bed for my 3 yr old, and it was actually a king single sized bed..which would be comfy for any additional adult if required.

Minibar was the only confusion that occured as they take inventory daily but didnt stock up daily for some reason, so we had to ensure we weren't charged twice for the single item that was missing.
All in all, the lovely ladies who made the beds everyday were wonderful... Gave it a personal touch to the place. The restaurant on the premesis is lacking in atmosphere somewhat.... Especially at the breakfast buffet section... I felt like it was more set up for a conference. But dinner was fine... As they only use one particular section of the restaurant for that time...

Only one more gripe... It was a pity that you have to park your car so far from the front door...its not easy moving heavy luggage with screaming kids in the rain... Which is exactly what we experienced. Make sure you have wheels on your luggage bags if its particularly large.

Room Tip: Its a fair walk to reception on foot. Stay in a villa close to reception if you dont want to drive t...
