Wow! Wow! Wow!
Definitely #1 Restaurant in Holbox!
Ricardo the Chef, is amazing! We began the night with their signature Rosa Mexicano Margaritas. We usually don't go for specials or experimental drinks, but these were very, very nicely done!
Food-wise we had the Queso Fundido and the Shrimp Salad which were extremely well executed. The Pulpo (Octopus) A Los Tres Chiles...blew us away! Truly magnificent! This is world class cuisine. Coming back for more! The staff made our visit memorable through friendly & honest customer service. Highly recommend!

Rosa Mexicana is one of the best restaurants in Isla Holbox. Everything they prepare is very good. After eating 6 meals of fresh fish at the many restaurants in Holbox, I decided I needed a steak; it was a rib eye, and it was excellent. Everyone in our party exclaimed at the quality of the food, and the presentation. The menu is varied, and the preparation of each of the items was exactly as we had requested. We had a postre of flan de queso de cabra. It was excellent. Rosa Mexicana is located in the new small mall of stores, Plaza en Pueblito. You will not be disappointed if you dine here.

Service was quick, but we were the only ones there (2pm). We had Fish Ceviche (always wondered what that was!) - it's like a very herby fish and onion soup. Edible, but not the best Mexican food I've tasted! Probably not their fault though. Hubbie had flank steak which was delicious.
Don't miss the brownie wrapped in a banana leaf with homemade ice cream - yum.

Luckily we discovered this gem on our first night in town, as one thing will be for sure once you have taken the first bite: you will definitely want to be back! Gerry, one of the owners, took a lot of time to explain the Spanish menu to us in perfect English and the decision which one of the dishes to try first was not an easy one as everything sounds delicious. During our stay in Holbox we had dinner at Rosa Mexicano four times and the food was fantastic each and every time. Gerry also introduced us to some excellent Mexican wines and tequilas and made every one of our visits special. He looked after us and made sure that food and drinks were always to our tastes. On our third and fourth visit we went off the menu and had surf and turf variations prepared especially for us. I am usually not someone who enthuses too much about food, but hey, these were just awesome! So don't miss out on this restaurant and make sure you leave enough room for the chocolate brownies with home made ice cream for dessert - they are just divine!

We stayed in Holbox for a week in late October and decided to visit this lovely restaurant based on the TripAdvisor reviews - we're so glad we did. It's quite easy to find near the zócalo located in a quite new and charming building consisting of several restaurants.
When we arrived Gerry, the owner of that place, welcomed us and explained the menu and each dish, its ingredients and how it's prepared in perfect English. You could hear his passion and love about what he's doing. The menu is rather small, ensuring that all the ingredients are fresh. Nevertheless, it's quite hard to choose a dish as all of them sound so delicious. We picked an octopus on corn and chorizo (the best side dish I've had in years) and stuffed chicken breast in mole puebla. Gerry explained us that the recipe for the mole was delivered from his ancestors and that it consists of some 50 different herbs and spices - you could smell and taste all of them!!
The following nights when we came back Gerry welcomed us with a smile, brought us wine from Cancun so we could experience the excellent quality of Mexican vineries and created outstanding dishes aside from the menu taking into account our preferences and wishes.
Should you go to only one restaurant on Holbox, go to Rosa Mexicano for some gourmet Mexican fusion kitchen, you won't regret it. And make sure you have the chocolate brownie for dessert (chocolate dough with chilli, first baked then steamed in a banana leaf - so soft, so juicy, just yummy).
We'll definitely return.
