Hacienda La Catrina

We spent three nights at Hacienda La Catrina during the whale shark season. Holbox in itself was the highlight of our Yucatan-trip, and I am very glad we chose La Catrina. The room and facilities were clean, the breakfast was better than most continentals we have had (fresh papaya juice, yum!) and it is located only 4-5 blocks from the main square and beaches. Roberto and Alejandrina were very friendly and attentive, and they recommended us several activities and also a whale shark operator who turned out to be very good.

Would definitely return to La Catrina instead of paying more for something on the beach, especially since it is only a 3 minute barefoot walk on the sandy streets. Highly recommended!

Dear friends, Alejandrina and I are very pleased your stay was good at hacienda la Catrina. Our effort is mainly to make our guests feel at home and you were very friendly guests indeed.
I hope some of the heat may have gone back along with you in the cold Sweden, when you`ll return home, maybe you'll remember us!

This is a cute and personal little b&b. We stayed in a private room with its own bathroom, air con and fan.
They supply a continental breakfast with a different fresh blended juice every morning.
It is a very short walk to the centre where all the shops/restaurants and a laundromat.
The owners Alejandrina, Roberto and their daughter Puka are all so friendly, great for a chat and make you feel at home :)

We were in this accommodation in July 2013 as a family and were really happy. accommodation in this hacienda was clean, spacious and bright with a small kitchenette where we could prepare coffee and with a small fridge for some food. Bed was comfortable with cleaning bed linen and a private bathroom. the windows were everywhere mosquito nets. accommodation was air-conditioned and fan as well with a really nice painting on the walls. entrance to the hacienda with a small garden where hammocks hang one for each room. We were very satisfied.to the sea we had just a few blocks away but not more than 5 minutes walking.

Owner Roberto is friendly and helpful and when we leaving he drove us back to the ferry and show us a part of island. When I go back to the island always be accommodated here and recommend this hotel to all my friends. Big Huge and thank you Roberto :)

On my recent visit to Playa del Carmen, I decided to venture out of my usual comfort zone and explore the eco-tourism side of Q.R. by visiting the unspoiled island of Holbox (pronounced "Holbosh").
Roberto and Alejandrina, experienced hosts and extremely helpful guides, removed all fears of getting lost, safety, etc. from this brief adventure. This small B & B is in perfect harmony with its surroundings. It's immaculate with everything you need (incl. wifi), in proximity to the beach, restaurants and the centre of this quaint little town where everyone was friendly, very relaxed and seemed to know everyone else. I highly recommend taking a couple days away from the golf course or 5th Avenue to experience the rare, eco-friendly environment of Holbox.

I was a lillte hesitant when I booked because it is a new hotel. 2 days before our arrival I call the hotel to confirm our reservation and spoke with Roberto, the owner. He is great! He said he will pick us up at the ferry dock in Holbox and he did when we arrived. He drove us on his golf cart to take a look at the island and showed us the main attractions. After that he took us to a tour supplier so we could book the whale shark tour; then to the hotel/studios.
We reserved the Family studio for 4 adults. The place is brand new, very spacious, with a/c, a little kitchenette, private bathroom and 2 queen beds. The studio has very nice paintings on the walls. We were very happy with our decision. The studios are a few blocks from the main plaza and the beach, but very easy to get there by walking. And at an affordable price. On the next day, Roberto picked us up at the studios and took us back to the ferry dock. We will definitely book La Catrina studios every time we go to Holbox and we will recommend to all our friends. Gracias Roberto for all your attentions!
