“Wonderful little B&B”
Reviewed June 12, 2011

The rooms may not be huge, but they are adequate size and the little artistic and homely details more than make up for it. The bathrooms have excellent showers, not a drizzle like most other places in Mexico. And then there's the VIEW...
We got there to find the towels had been arranged in a heart-like shape, and every detail had been thought through carefully. The living area, which you are more than welcome to use, is homely, breezy and tastefully decorated and the owner extremely friendly and a font of information about the island. So, it's a bit of a walk to town (maybe ten minutes), but Holbox is a place in which to enjoy the quiet, the birds, the beeches, the sunrise and sunset from the roof terrace, or the stars at night. Very romantic, very peaceful, felt like home. Didn't want to leave. Would strongly recommend!

My husband and I stayed at Casa BlatHa while on our honeymoon. When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly Manager who was able to make us feel extremely welcome after a long trip on a bus and ferry.
The front foyer is a great place to meet people, relax and just have a chat. The continental breakfast was served each morning with beautiful cereal, toast and coffee.
The rooms had a fantastic view, were very clean and polished. We had a nice balcony to set on and relax and to watch the sun set.
This hotel is situated at the opposite end of the town which is why it's the greatest keep secret. The beach in this location is the best compared with the town and is much quitier as well. You are still able to walk to town in no time as well as order taxi's to go on a trip.
I have been lucky enough to do lots of travel and this is one hotel and location I will be coming back to this year.
Chewie (not sure how to spell) was extremely helpful to us. He was able to order taxi for tours, give us great advise and made us feel just like we were at home. (English speaking a+)
Thanks for a great stay!!!

The hotel is located on the far western tip of the island so a fantastic place to see the sun set. Not great for swimming because it's very shallow, but fantastic for kite boarders. From the house, you're also a short walk from a beautiful beach on the north side of the island which is better for swimming.

The house is relatively new and the value for the island is great. Note that there are no hotel comforts on site, i.e. no restaurant, no bar, no local grocery.

The rooms are simple and small. The bathroom was not cleaned well, however the bedding was clean and the beds comfortable. Breakfast is included, however you should expect simple coffee and toast with jam, no juice. Some days there may be pastries and a fruit. Going out for breakfast is an option, but expect to spend 300 - 500 pesos anywhere you go on the Island for two people.

Service was not remarkable - we didn't take any tours but the one or two things I asked help with a few weeks in advance, the host couldn't take care of because he was too busy. No map of the island or brochures of local attractions are provided, so suggest you pick them up in town.

Distance to town is about a twenty minute walk. So if you don't rent a golf cart expect to walk in for lunch and dinner.

Overall the island is beautiful but food and supplies are outrageously expensive. Expect to pay 700 - 1000 pesos for lunch and dinner for two people. The best restaurant we ate at was Pelicano's - everything was delicious.

In terms of motorcycle riding - nada, but we did rent a golf cart and that was loads of fun.

My experience staying at Casa Blatha was beyond my expectations in the most positive possible way. The owner and his staff are just great people, full of warmth and ease. The rooms and the view are fantastic at an excellent rate. The whole house was made with 'gusto', and elegant simplicity in connection with the environment and Holbox's culture. Holbox is a jewel– as close to Paradise as one can get. The town is extremely simple and the people are beautiful. Paradoxically, gourmet food is all over. The most exquisite dishes are available all over for great prices. One feels like living naked there, with no need of dressing up.... i am speaking metaphorically here... one feels great freedom and a direct fresh intimate contact with nature and many forms of life. I also recommend tours to the nearby islands. That's a must!
Thanks to Daniel, Jesús, Manuel and Fernando!

My gf and i stayed at casa blat ha a few weeks ago and couldn't have enjoyed it more. Getting to holbox is like arriving to a secret place, where no one is stressed and blackberries haven't been discovered. Being from ny, we wanted something new and different and casa blatha exceeded our expectations far and beyond. The rooms are quaint, private bathroom w tub, and an amazing balcony to see the sun set in your private hammock...! This place rocks! G

A nice, small and confortable Hotel at a beautiful spot on the Iland Holbox. The service is very good, the staff is very friendly and helps to organize amazing tours to different places. We went to see the "tiburon ballena", everything was just great. The hotel is very quiet and it is surroundet by a beautiful nature. The rooms are not big but very nice and confortable. From the rooftop or also from our balcony we had a great view on the sunset every evening.

For starters, Holbox is the closest one can get to paradise in Mexico. The beautiful fine white sand and the numerous shades of turquoise one can see from the room's balconies, while relaxing on a hammoc and enjoying a nice breeze, have little or no comparison. This is all enhanced by the fact that Holbox remains a very well kept secret in the Caribbean and thus, it is not overwelmed by tourists.
The rooms are very comfortable, with sliding doors that prevent any mosquitoes from bothering you and the views, as mentioned, are breathtaking.
The staff is very friendly, and although they do not offer many on site services such as restaurant service, they are willing, able and even eager to help the guests satisfy all their needs, be it concerning food, tours, taxis, bike or golf cart rentals.
The hotel lobby is a very nice place to relax after a day in the sun, or to stay and hide from the sun. The atmosphere is quite cosy and invites for interaction amongst the hotel guests.
