Las Golondrinas Casa Posada
Ranked #38 of 60 Tepoztlan B&B and Inns
Reviewed April 21, 2012

My girlfriend and I made a reservation through the Las Golondrinas website. We paid in full (via PayPal) and received an automatic confirmation of our payment from the owner and PayPal. Once our taxi had finally found the place, we waited around outside for ten minutes for someone to let us in. After settling into our room, we were told that there had been a double booking and we would have to give up the room. We were offered a doorless dilapidated room next to the kitchen instead. When we finally got through to the owner to complain, she was rude and obnoxious, claiming that we were supposed to call to make reservations (even though her website has a function to take online bookings). We are still waiting for our refund.

As for the guesthouse itself, it certainly didn't seem worth the money. From the little time we spent in the hotel I noticed that the sheets seemed old, the room smelt musty and the pool was covered in a film of scum. It had the feel of a place that was once loved but had been neglected by a careless owner. The only good thing I could say about this place is that the maid was very helpful and apologetic for a situation that clearly wasn't her fault.

With plenty of other amazing places to stay in Tepotzlan for the same price, or less, I certainly won't ever be going back. I implore the owner to please sort out the website so that this doesn't happen again. it isn't difficult to set up a functioning website. Oh, and a refund would be nice too.

We stayed at Las Golondrinas for three nights on a recent trip. This B & B is in a private house with lovely flower filled grounds and a pretty little pool. It is a very relaxing setting and we enjoyed sitting on the comfortable chairs by the pool in the late afternoon. It is a ways outside of town down an unpaved road, but it is worth the trip.
There are only three rooms and when we stayed there we were the only guests. If the other two rooms had been filled there might have been a problem with use of the facilities. Besides the yard, there is a comfortable living room area for the use of the guests.
The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfasts are fabulous. Marisol Fernandez, the owner, is a lovely lady and is a very gracious hostess. I would highly recommend this place for those who want to escape town, which can be a bit noisy.
