“dirty barns and animals,, poor service”

The Farm House Natural Cheeses
Reviewed September 1, 2017

we have been here when the other owners ran this place. New owner in there now do run the farm & what a disappointment Last month we took some out of town guests.. I wish the cows looked they do on the cover photo.. They where all crowded into a back barn & where walking in manure that was very deep.& they where very ditty with manure all over them .
.The other barn had a donkey that was sick and throwing up bile.. The other animals in the small stalls didnt look much better,,,.There where skinny sick cats and kittens running all over,, All the barns smelled so bad and where full of flys and dirty hay. Anyone who sees this from the road see some cute goats playing in a field,, But take a closer look in those barns . I would say an spca visit would be needed here ..
The cheese --we where not offered any samples and had to ask Didn't see cheese been made.. We where all disappointed with the cleanliest and wouldn't buy cheese from here

Great place to visit with excellent cheese. Be sure to take in the tour of several farms in the area. Close to Harrison Hot Springs and other great Fraser Valley locations. Don't take highway 1 go a slow more scenic route and travel highway 7. You won't be disappointed.

We made two visits to The Farm House Natural Cheeses recently - the first, back in June, and the second earlier this week - both were planned road stops, while on our on our way to stays in nearby Harrison Hot Springs. These stops were the closest we have come to real farm experiences in many years, and were such fun, interesting, and informative.

Browsing/shopping within the on-site farm shop (to see the various cheeses, and other offerings), was first, then it was going out & about, and into some of the nearby barns (to see some of the cows and goats who were providing the milk for their various cheeses). These walkabouts included up close & personal viewings and meetings with several calves, adult & young sheep, and the many cats & kittens who also call this place home. The contacts with all the animals were sure enjoyed — must admit, it’s been a long while since any of us fondly-scratched the heads of cows, goats, and sheep, and were kissed in return by big-eyed, and so cute calves!

I’m not knowledgeable enough to try and describe the various varieties of cheeses made here. But from our experiences, I’m most confident that if you are seeking, truly artisan-quality cheeses, from a local, certified organic farm, this is definitely a place to check out.

As an owner/operator of a prestige Bed & Breakfast in Harrison Hot Springs, this is not only where we source our quality cheese & dairy treats, but where we send our Guests to do their own browsing and shopping. Award-winning organic cheeses, goat-milk products from the source, and Artisan delicacies bring you in and Yogurts, Devonshire cream and Ice Cream tease you just a little more. Visit the animals outside and watch cheese production inside through the windows while shopping ... can it get any more closer than farm to table than this? The Rockwell Harrison Guest Lodge doesn't think so, unless you owned your own farm and were an seasoned cheese producer.

I'd return ...the cheese was great with other more unique products in the fridge (German cream cheese?) hopefully the staff will have a bit more experience regarding the types of cheeses for sale
