“Disappointing”
Reviewed August 24, 2010

This hotel is in a beautiful location, but the value for the money is substandard. I was hesitant to book here because of the price but thought it surely must be worth the money.
My husband and I have travelled extensively and would have expected more for what we had paid.
We were given a room with kitchentte that the previous occupants had obviously cooked fish in, judging by the lingering odor. Kitchen glasses, stove top were streaky with grease, and we had to rewash our wine glasses before using them. Bathroom toilet lid would not open all the way due to poor design of the bathroom counter, and the tub took ages to fill up.
Although pleasantly decorated, the room had a cramped feeling. We were given a "bluff" view, but what we had to look at was an eyesore across the street consisting of a rundown property with old cars littering the lot. We couldn't even watch TV from the bed because the TV faced a different direction. No wireless in the rooms either.
After a long drive from Spokane, we were looking forward to enjoying the jacuzzi to relax in, only to find the timer for the jets was broken. I brought this to the attention of the front desk, who said they would have someone out to fix it the next day. It did not get repaired before we checked out. Each time we used the pool, there were no towels available to use, and we had to inform the front desk, so we could get more delivered to the pool.
We ate one night at the restaurant which again, was a nice view of the lake. Food was pricey but good.
There are much nicer hotels/resorts you can get for less than what we paid (250/night). I highly recommend Predator Ridge Resort in Vernon - twice the value, half the money. (got a deal on Travel Zoo).

The rooms here are spacious and quite clean but the pool had a terrible urine smell to it, enough to make you sick!! Staff at front desk barely acknowledge you, make you wait for things and don't follow up when you make attempts to discuss a problem with the service!! Even the manager didn't seem to care!! Condescending owner/manager at the boat rental too.. Stay away! This is 5 star prices for 1 star quality.

The good: We rented a 2 bedroom condo with bluff view. Nice, clean room with comfortable beds. Great location and convenient.

The bad: Hotel staff was 50/50. No formal greeting when we first arrived or explanation of the facilities.

Outdoor pool smelled of urine. Clean in the morning but cloudy by early afternoon. The smell was at times intolerable.

Could have received much better service at the boat rental. Boat prices were quoted by the hour and gas was extra. Asked the easy question of approx how much it would be fill the tank and couldn't get a straight answer. Was made to feel like it was a dumb question.

The photos misled us to believe that it was a nice place. The service was terrible. We booked for a lakeview suite and they gave us a parking lot view suite. We had to argue with them to get them to charge us for the right room. The rooms looked nice, but the quality of everything was bad. The fridge had a fire alarm sound all day, when you flash the toilet the entire room shook. They had one little piece of paper towel for your arrival. They had a couple of drops of dishsoap for the first glass to be washed. They had a washer and a dryer and no detergent. We went out to the balcony for dinner, but we had to go inside because we had an invasion of moths. We had moths in the kitchen cabinets.. There were spider webs in the room. The cleaning of the room was less than desirable. The pool was not very clean. I will never stay here again and will recommend you travel to Osooyos and stay in the Spirit Ridge Vineyard where we had the most amazing experience. Next time we will go to Ossoyos or Naramada instead.

We had 2 suites, one ground floor two-bedroom and one third floor one-bedroom. We were upgraded, due to the resort filling up with last minute bookings for the basic units. Both were nice, comfortable, and with well-equipped kitchens including dishwashers. The beds were comfortable but too soft for some of us. There was free internet. Even though the resort was full for the August long weekend, it was quiet enough at night.

Housekeeping must have been short-staffed, as one of our units never got cleaned until late in the day.

The outdoor pool and hot tub were fine, and there was a small sand beach for lake swimming. We did not use the steam room, gym, spa, or boat rentals. We found the onsite restaurant "local" to be overpriced. There were several good restaurants, reasonably priced, in central Summerland, a 15 minute drive away.

Free underground parking was available, and great for keeping the car cool in the blistering sun! Unfortunately there were not always spaces available, and only one handicapped spot.

Some of the front desk staff was inexperienced, and initially gave us the wrong unit. Older staff coming on later corrected the mistake and had us move to an upgraded unit.

People walking dogs at night used the grass in front of our ground floor suite as a dog toilet, and did not always pick up after themselves. Not sure why the management allows this to go on.

There are no grocery stores, wine stores, or fruit stands within walking distance. They are about 10 minutes away by car.

My husband and 6 month old daughter took our first trip to Summerland and stayed at the Summerland waterfront Resort for 3 days. We stayed in a one bedroom and it was a great choice with a little one. We liked the fully equipped kitchen and the spacious bathroom. We had a "bluff" view of the Lake but when we got there and stepped onto the balcony of the suite it was a gorgeous view of the lake so we were pleasantly surprised to have such a beautiful "bluff" view. The location of the hotel was perfect. Free underground parking with large parking spaces was nice. THe staff were helpful and pleasant to deal with, they knew about events around town so they were well informed about the area. Overall we enjoyed our first experience at the Waterfront Resort and Spa and will be coming back next year for a full week!!! VERY CHILD FRIENDLY

Stayed for 2 nights in June and found a totally luxurious retreat in summerland. First class amenities, beautifully decorated and included a full kitchen with fridge, microwave, oven, hotplates and a clean inviting bathroom...a 4 room suite. Only qualm was the $25 per night parking fee, which we avoided by parking in the street.
