“A Disappointment - The prize was no gift”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2012

We won an overnight stay at Bonita's in their guest suite (the owners were promoting their winery and guest suite and we won our stay in a draw we had entered). We were very much looking forward to our visit to Summerland and our stay at Bonitas. We enjoyed a nice lunch at the bistro (good food, pleasant waitress) and some wine tasting. However, our stay in the suite was the worst travel experience we have had in ten years. First, be forewarned that the suite is over the restaurant and the suite is "noisy" as the sound from guests and workers can be heard until after 9 p.m. There is no view from the suite. One set of windows look out at the rock face and the other set of windows looks down into the interiour of the bistro. The owners did not tell us upon our arrival that they closed the gates in the evening, and this caused difficulty for some friends who live in the area who had taken us on a wine tour when they went to leave at 10:15 p.m.. When we went to go to bed, we discovered the sheets had not been changed from the previous guests, and when we contacted the owner at 10:45 p.m. letting her know that these sheets were not clean, she was obviously annoyed at us and also dismissive of this, (telling me she could not control how the washing machine cleans the sheets), but told us we could change the sheets with extras that were in a drawer. These sheets were stained, the blanket was also unclean and extremely worn and of poor quality (our dogs have better blankets!). (We ended up getting our car blankets from our vehicle and sleeping on these!) The shower was not clean - in fact we did not use it because of the human hair and dirt left in the shower from the previous guests. There was no bar soap or shampoo in the bathroom, however they did leave the toilet cleaner on the shelf! The kitchen sink and surrounding counter had not been cleaned, and the front of the microwave was not clean either. In addition there were four converters for the televeision (all without batteries), and the TV did not work. When we approached the owner in the morning about our concerns, he told us that he was running a winery and not a bed and breakfast, and what did we expect when it was free. AND if we were unhappy we should have gone to the Ramada. We attempted to explain that if he is advertising a suite, people are expecting the accomodation to be clean. We will not return because of the manner in which our concerns were dealt with and the dismissiveness and rudeness of the owners. This "prize" we won, was NO gift!

“Beautiful View!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2012

We made a point to stop in Bonitas for lunch while spending the day wine touring in Summerland on a recommendation from a friend. The restaurant is above the tasting room with a spectacular view! Bonitas is the only winery actually on the lake....beautiful property! We all had a nice light, fresh lunch paired with some interesting wines (which we purchased on our way out). I'm a sucker for flavoured butters and that's exactly what they offered along with some in-house made dairy free bread. A great stop on our tour of Summerland!

“Food with a view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2012

Took my girl friend from out of province to Bonitas for lunch. Very nice restaraunt inside, even better on the patio but the wind was cool that day so we stayed indoors. Service and food both very good and a nice choice of wines. Watch for their sign as soon as you turn off Hwy 97. We missed it so had a scenic detour.
