Glenoka Farm Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #9 of 21 Summerland B&B and Inns
Reviewed September 8, 2012

We just loved this B&B - but sadly could only stay for one night. When we arrived Brian and Sarah (the sweetest farm dog) welcomed us at the door and showed us to our lovely room (the Plum). From that moment on we were in love - with the room, the view, the hospitality and eventually the stunning surroundings. The old farm house is wonderfully decorated and cozy. The surrounding farm is picturesque and very tranquil.

We met Elsa the next morning at breakfast - and boy was that a delicious meal to wake up to! She even picked some fresh grapes and peaches from her yard to have with the fabulous goat cheese tart. If only we had stayed a few days more we would have been in the garden with Brian and Sarah picking peaches and pears from the garden :)

We highly recommend this B&B for anyone looking for a tranquil retreat in the heart of summerland.

-Katy and Magnus

Room Tip: Both rooms and beautiful.

Fabulous B&B. The owners are gracious, warm and welcoming and incredibly accommodating. The B&B is in a beautiful old farmhouse but the guest rooms are finished to the highest standards - sumptuous beds, elegant fabrics and luxurious linens. Gorgeous cork flooring and stone tiles. Plenty of wool blankets ensure you can enjoy the beautiful screened and covered porch in any weather. The breakfast was incredible: homemade granola and yogurt, dried fruits and preserves made on the property, freshly squeeze orange juice, coffee, toast and then a delicious cheese and fresh herb omelette with herbs picked that morning from the garden and eggs from the farm's own hens served with a generous portion of bacon, followed by homemade biscotti and fresh strawberries straight from the garden! Truly wonderful and all served with a smile. The B&B is set on a beautiful farm, surrounded by fruit trees and right next to a bird sanctuary (and a minute's walk from the lake), so it is very peaceful and tranquil. Will definitely be back - extremely good value, can't recommend highly enough :)

Room Tip: I stayed in the Pear Room (downstairs and wheelchair accessible), it has its own private covered por...

Located on a small fruit farm close to the beach, this B&B is a real find. Our room was so comfortable, great king size bed, and a lovely screened in porch for quiet evenings. OUr room was also wheel chair accessible with modified bathroom and wide doors. The guest house is separated from the host's house giving complete privacy.
The breakfasts were entirely home made from produce of the farm (fresh eggs, fresh fruit, homemade granola) supplemented by produce from neighbours. There's a lovely garden retreat by a natural pond, shaded by willow trees.
Lake Okanagan is just down the street with good swimming and walks. The place is decorated with art by Irvine Adams and with Australian Aboriginal artists - Brian is Irvine Adams's nephew and Elsa spent many years in Australia.
We enjoyed our stay and will definitely want to go back.

Room Tip: Ground floor room is wheel chair accessible, upstairs is also delightful.

Walking distance to the shores of Okanagan lake, Glenoka is a hidden gem in beautiful Summerland. Driving up the lane, you are met by a magnificent chestnut tree that stands as a sentinel to this historic property and home. We had a feeling of surrounding serenity and calm which gave us a homespun welcome as we met Brian and Elsa. The Pear Room was gorgeous, spacious and clean with an added bonus of private, screened deck. Breakfast was excellent, served on the antique porch with great company. I would have stayed longer if I could, to walk the property, relax, enjoy the stillness, and visit with the owners. I hope to go back one day soon.

Bryan and Elsa welcome you into their home on the edge of Summerland with warm hospitality and attention to detail that's hard to beat. The breakfast is superb with fresh fruit and homemade granola that shouldn't be missed and both rooms are extremely comfortable. We toured for two weeks and this was our most memorable stay so if you're in the wine region make sure this is your stop.

Room Tip: one ground floor and one upstairs bedroom

End of long day's drive from Field, BC, with our sister and brother-in-law from UK: dreaming, hoping for peace and repose at a B and B that's just right. And it was. An old farmhouse (Brian's family), shaded by a heritage chestnut tree. Just two guest rooms (so no strangers to make conversation with at breakfast), rooms reflecting Elsa's years in the hospitality business in the Australian outback: bright, large, handsomely furnished, both with en suites and every conceivable convenience(ground floor room especially super for older or infirm guests)
Both interesting people: Brian, with the slow, subversive wit of a former lawyer, Elsa whose life journey has taken her far from her native BC. Oh yes, and Sarah, a very friendly older dog they've recently adopted and who spends much of her day thoughtfully eying the chickens in their pen. Doesn't stop the chickens from producing the grand breakfast eggs to go with (if you please) sausages made from the couple's own beef.
