“fantastic food in Frenchtown!”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

We had a fantastic anniversary dinner at the twisted Cork tonight. With superb menu selections and the updated new interior, (from previous restaurant), it was a really enjoyable meal. The friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere only added to the whole experience.
We will definitely be back again, not just for special occasions; the large bar area is perfect for an after work gathering or casual business lunch. It's going to the top of our list as one of our regular spots!

“Good Food, Poor Ambiance”
Reviewed September 23, 2013 via mobile

Considerable ambiance has been lost in the conversion from Craig and Sally's. The booths have been removed, the space has been opened up, but the cafe is now a cavernous, windowless box with too much undistinguished brown furniture and poor acoustics.

If you can get past the mediocre ambience, the food remains pretty good. The signature ossobucco remains one of the best I have ever had, a generous portion of meat falling off the bone in a puttanesca style sauce. On this visit, my partner ordered a pasta with chicken and aoli special which was also well-received.

The menu permits the mix and match selection of two appetizers for $14. We tried the chicken livers, not something we'd normally order, but very pleasing in this case.

Service was prompt, knowledgeable and courteous. Bar drinks - in our case, a martini and a marguerite - well-prepared.

If the owners could invest in a design upgrade to restore some warmth and intimacy to the di inv experience, that would be great.

“Hidden Gem in Frenchtown”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

We had a bit of a time finding the place, but we called and they were more than happy to guide us in. This gem is in the heart of Frenchtown and was by far the best place we ate on the island (and we did many of the fine dining options). I had the special that night - Chicken Linguini in a Paprika Cream Sauce --- SOOO Good. Great wine selection. Only downside was owner (or manager) in serving jeans --- it made the place seem to a bit of an identity crisis, you're either upscale or a mom & pop joint. I think you're going for the former so stop dressing like the latter (but I really am just nitpicking). However if they want to compete with Pesce and other fine dining options it's just something to consider. Otherwise amazing place to dine.

“"Pretentious"”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

100 characters to sum up "The Twisted Cork" is unnecessary. My title describes the cafe perfectly. The bloody raw flat iron steak that i got which shouldve been medium wasn'nt the real issue. Intead of just fixing the problem i had, the waiter decided to debate with me about how steak is prepared. To sum it up the waitress basically told us that we'd never had a steak cooked properly and this was how it should have always been. My husband was appauled and so was I. Thanks for the food education but im 32 yrs old. I know the difference between rare and medium. This place might've been ok but your staffs atittude ruined it. Respect for guests should be rule number 1.
