We were greeted at Petite Anse by the owners, Philip and Annie who made us feel immediately at home and relaxed. This feeling remained for the entire week of our stay and our time at Petite Anse felt more like a comfortable house party than a hotel. The hotel is set in a wonderful location with marvellous vistas. Although when we were there the sea was rough and the beach a bit wild, we enjoyed lazing around the pool and also had a car for a few days so that we could explore further afield.
The staff were always polite, friendly and attentive. The food was good - much of the produce in the hotel is grown in Annie's garden! There is a good wine list in the restaurant and rum punches to die for! We chose the all-inclusive option which worked very well for us. All in all, a great choice for a relaxing, chilled holiday in Grenada - we hope to go back again soon.

Luxury is hard to do in the north (the non tourist area) of a small caribbean island. 10 years ago, the height of luxury in this district was chicken and chips in a local cafe, there were no proper hotels.

Petite Anse does it in the best way. By taking the very best (pretty spectacular, but not all encompassing like for example Dubai) that the local area can provision, and packaging it in a way that visitors will appreciate. The owners Philip and Annie clearly love their hotel and the island, and are really caring to their guests. I have been to the southern Caribbean many times. This is about the best Grenada can offer, and is right up there for the region.

The abundent fresh fish, veg, herbs, spices, fruits, juices and some meats (who knew Grenada had local sausages !) are all prepared with love by locals who know how to do it, and by the british chef who knows how to add a professional flair / international polish.

The rooms are clean, comfortable, and enjoy beautiful views. We had a large room (nutmeg) with a huge shower room and extensive outdoor balcony directly overlooking the beach, and not overlooked by anyone.

There is a fridge with daily replenished water, milk (and coffee tea etc.) Aircon is there but never needed given the location / breeze.

The restaurant overlooks the beach, the bar closes when the last person leaves, the barman makes a great cocktail, they even sell english beer and cider...

Insects were not a problem in the hotel anywhere (its really protected by strong trade winds blowing onshore most of the time, the 4 poster bed had nets, but never needed.)

The pool is great. The beach is small and a bit wild, but the absolutely stupendous Bathway beach is a short drive.

There is lots to do on the island in general, but certainly in the evenings, eat at the Hotel most of the time is my suggestion.

I recommend - the Heights restaurant for lunch, BB's Crabback in St Georges, everyone must visit the Grand Etang and take bananas for the monkeys. The rest is pretty good, but it depends on your energy levels...

Room Tip: Get a big room if you want absolute privacy.

Having scoured the entire Caribbean va Trip Advisor last year, we settled on Petite Anse for our wedding. We were looking for a boutique hotel that would accommodate 20 - 30 guest that we could book out completely, away from large hotels ad package tourism. We wanted a coastal setting, preferably with private beach, clean, well maintained rooms, a good kitchen, and responsive efficient staff + management. And of course we wanted it all for a reasonable price. We had asked our guests to spend a lot of money + vacation time, flying from the UK, Canada, and New Zealand - so we were a little nervous as the trip rolled around that it would live up to people's expectations. Our fears were totally and utterly unfounded.

Beforehand, we communicated frequently with both Philip and Annie (owners), who were super-responsive by email. As the date drew closer, they skyped with us, and got Jamie the chef on a call to discuss menu selection and dietary requirements (we had several). They were well-organized and kept their eye on the ball the whole time.

Upon arrival in Grenada, Petite Anse sent vehicles to collect us from the airport - helpful since Petite Anse is ~ 75 minute drive away. Also no small feat logistically, as there were 22 of us arriving on various flights over 24 h. Getting to Petite Anse, first impressions from all guests were 'photos on the internet don't do it justice'. Lush, well kept gardens containing romantic cabins, steps down to a private beach, restaurant/bar with verandah possessing fantastic sea views. We impressed with the site layout - intelligent landscaping means even the cabins toward the back of the property have great views, and they all feel fairly private.

A few other things about the area: The weather warm throughout our stay (28 - 30C or ~85F) - but a gentle breeze blows contantly, so neither temperature nor mosquitoes are a problem. Prevailing wind sems to come from north + east most of the time (to which PA is exposed), so the sea is not placid. For us, this was a blast (reasonably good swimmers, boogie boarding by day, sound of breaking waves all night), and the sea is warm and pleasant. Poor swimmers might want to stick to the hotel pool though (which is right by the bar, so no second prize ;). So far, Petite Anse remains slightly off the beaten path - there're no other large hotels or signs of tourism around. The small town of Sauteurs is only a 30 min walk though - you can purchase most supplies here. While we personally like to explore (renting a vehicle was a must - no problem - Philip/Donna handled for us, with vehicles delivered to Petite Anse) - plenty of our guests were quite happy not to step foot off the property all week - it has all you need.

As fantastic as Petite Anse is though, its Annie, Philip and their staff who truly make this place what it is. Your room is kept spotless throughout your stay, and laundry done on a daily basis. We gather our wedding was the first time the hotel had been fully booked out for one - well they handled it like pros. We asked for a gift basket with local gift produce in each guests room - they received wine, organic chocolate, rum and spices. While we're not the sort to have a 'colour themed' wedding, upon learning the bridesmaids would be wearing blue/turqoise, Michelle (who was supervising the serving staff) had the tables decked out in blues and whites, and the she + Annie decorated the restaurant with turqoise/white balloons. Annie also made up fantastic bouquets from the flowers in her own garden. They basically functioned as our full wedding planners (for no charge), organizing wedding ifficiant, hairdressers for the girls, and even securing us an alternate photographer on 48 h notice when ours bailed on us.

Philip and Annie gave us a wedding gift (already framed on our wall) and asked Jamie + crew to make a cake on the house. Talking of the food - its fantastic. Jamie works wonders with whatever he has on hand, incorporating new options in the menu every day. He even baked gluten free bread for my mum every day. You're also in for a treat if you're lucky enough to see his dance moves ;) Devon the bartender deserves special mention - every night he keeps the bar open until the last person leaves - and we had him up until 4:30am a couple of times, and 6:30 the night of the wedding - but he just kept smiling and pouring awesome cocktails.

Other highlights included Annie organizing a snorkelling trip to Sandy Island for all of us with local fisherman Dragon. And upon learning we're keen hikers, Philip took a day out of his schedule to show us the route up Fedon's Camp and the back side of Mt Qua Qua. (And actually another the following week, once we'd moved on for our honeymoon, for a trip up Mt St Catherine's).

In summary, we felt our wedding and stay were an unconditional success, and this is thanks to Philip, Annie, and their peerless staff. Petite Anse did not just live up to our expectations, it blew them away. Philip, Annie, Jamie, Donna, Devon, Michelle, Michelle, Alicia...and everyone else - THANK YOU.

This hotel has accommodation for 22 people in individual bungalows, all overlooking the ocean. You feel like you in your own private place with a view of the ocean. Annie and Philip are great hosts and make sure everything is perfect for you. We took over the whole hotel for my son's wedding and had an absolutely fabulous week. The bar stays open until the last guest has gone to bed, the chef is fantastic. He made fresh gluten-free bread for me every day. He also made delicious fish dishes and yummy desserts. Thoroughly recommend it.

For our honeymoon, my husband and I were very happy to have spent five glorious days at Petite Anse. For anyone looking for the busy nighlife in the heart of the town, this is not for you. However, if you are looking for peace and quiet in a luxurious setting where the owners know you personally, then this hotel is for you. Beautiful surroundings, friendly staff, sea view from your bathroom and bedroom...what else could one ask for? Truly a Carribbean Paradise away from it all.

This is a gem of a place situated on the unspoilt North coast of Grenada. The individual one bedroom villas staggered down a hillside, allow maximum privacy. All having balconies and superb views to the beach. However, having a central bar and restaurant (with the lovely Chef Jamie) it also gives a chance to meet people and chat. Annie & Philip are such wonderful hosts and their friends and locals, pop in, so it is just like being at a private house party rather than a hotel. We have never met anyone more personal, friendly and caring of their guests. The staff are equally friendly and efficient. Everyone mentions, and rightly so, Devon the barman, Michelle and Angela serving and the little girls spotlessly cleaning the rooms daily. Constant top up of tea coffee, milk and sugar in the room . Gorgeous, renewed supplies of showergel, shampoo and bodylotions and a useful hairdryer to every villa. The beach is very sandy, palm fringed and deserted. Gently shelving but can be quite wild with surf, so a beach to splash in the warm waves, rather than swim .However, the equally warm pool is ideal for swimming or relaxing by, on the many sunloungers. Lovely shaded areas too around the edge with comfortable seating.
This is great boutique hotel for people wanting just peace and quiet. Not a place however for anyone with severe walking problems (unless staying in the main hotel building) as there are quite a few steps here and there.
We hired a jeep (Rodney's Renown Rentals)for the two weeks via the hotel and that was invaluable as Grenada has many places to visit.

Thank you Annie and Philip for sorting out all our needs and making our holiday and our Wedding Anniversary so memorable. This is one very special place!

I spent one week here with my family (husband and 2 children age 13 and 16) over Christmas 2010. From the moment we arrived we all felt completely relaxed. Annie and Philip do their utmost to make you feel welcome and will do their best to make your stay enjoyable. The views from our accomodation were breathtaking and it was hard to persuade the children to leave the beach and explore other parts of this beautiful island. With Annie and Philip's help and advice we did a variety of activities. We did a trip into the rainforest with Telfor (a local hiking legend who is also a real character). Dragon took us out on his boat to Sandy Island where we did snorkling and had a picnic on the beach. We also hired a jeep for a couple of days and visited the local rum distillery and Belmont Plantation. I could not recommend these activites enough. Petite Anse is in a stunning location and it would be quite easy to spend all of your time relaxing by the pool or on the deserted beach. However, if you do this then you will miss out on so much more-such as the beautiful scenery and the warm welcoming people. We particularly enjoyed the views of the ocean, Devon's cocktails and the good food served by the efficient and friendly staff. The variety and choice on the menu changed regularly and was a big hit with our son (a renowned picky eater!). We had some local cuisine (not on the menu) especially prepared for us-after taking recommendations from Michelle (great waitress!).
This is our first visit to the Caribbean and we were not disappointed. We were taken aback by the lushness of the vegetation and vitality of the colours and people on this stunning island. The location of the hotel is in the undeveloped north part of the island and gives you a sense of the real Grenada. One of our concerns before booking was around personal safety having heard stories about other Caribbean islands. However, at no time during out exploration of the island was this a concern for us. We would not hesitiate to recommend Petite Anse or Grenada as a fantastic holiday destination. We hope to visit again in the near future.
