With a view of the Caribbean largely formed via movies and 1980's Bounty adverts, I did not know what to expect of Grenada.
Upon arrival at Blue Bay Lodge it became clear that we had truly landed on our feet with perhaps the friendliest proprietor you could hope for.
Lisette cares not only about those that stay with her at Blue Bay but also what they think of Grenada, hence her personal involvement in our holiday, from arranging waterfall excursions to taking us into the local town and introducing us around.
Blue Bay Lodge is made up of rooms that make you feel like you are visiting a friend, warm (or cool if you need the aircon) and comfortable, everything you could need for a room that you should be only be spending time in to sleep on this fantastic island.
When we dined in, we did so with the other guests and Lisette on local specialties such as "oil down" and of course more types of fish than you could think of.
Blue Bay is not for the 5 star hunting hotel lingerers, it is for those of us who are more adventurous and are the type that leaves with another firm friend and a feeling that we actually experienced Grenada. A high recommendation from us, my parting words in the Lodge visitor's book "it was like staying with a member of the family" couldn't be more appropriate.

Stayed: January 2008

Bluebay lodge is situated in the middle of the island which is convenient for sightseeing.
You can enjoy seaview from the dinner terrace and it takes 10 mins walk to the nearest beach.

Nearest village Gouyave (with banks, shops and Fish Friday event) is 15 mins walk. Concord waterfall - 10 mins ride.

Rooms are in good condition and contain TV, A/C, private bathtub, safe box, hot water and daily cleaning.
Little swimming pool is available in the yard. BBQ with live steel band music happened in the yard on Sundays.
Car parking is behind the entrance gate.

On the second floor there is a hall with big-screen TV and leather sofas. You can also sit in chairs on the balcony.
Internet with computer and printer is also available.

All staff was very friendly. We were treated very warm and hospitably.
The place sort of conducive to join all the guests into one big family. Lisette, the owner of the place, plays key role helping different people to find understanding. However if you prefer to do on your own you can be perfectly aside.

Hotel owner is communicative, delicate and helpful. She readily helps to work out the route and can recommend certified drivers who also play role of guides.

Price policy is more than loyal. Prices for dinners and drinks are fully reasonable. Daily-baked coconut rolls for the breakfast are incredibly tasty. All dished we ate were delicious.

Nearby beach at Palmsite bay is nice but if you need infrastrucutre incl. сhairs, umbrellas, beachbars etc - it's better to go to Grand Anse beach. It roughly takes 30 mins to St. Georges by bus, then change the bus and 10 mins to Grand Anse.

I would definitely stay in the Bluebay lodge again.

First, I want to recommend everyone to come to Grenada. It is a lovely island offering various possibilities to everyone. And almost the most secure place in the world as local people are the friendliest I have ever seen...
Secondly, I want to recommend to stay at the Blue Bay Lodge at Mount Nesbit. This place is perfect for independent travellers, solo travellers or for everyone who does not like the fuss in big and expensive hotels.
The lodge is situated at the hill of Mount Nesbit in the very green forest of banana and mango trees. You will be around 20-25 min from the capital of St Georges. You will be very close to Gouyave, the city famous for Fish Fridays, close to Concorde Falls - a beatiful place which is a must in Grenada. You will be approx 30 min from the most famous island's beaches - BBC, Grand Anse etc. And you will be very close to sea anyway as it is only 10 min walking to the nearest beach....And anyway you will enjoy taking the buses in Grenada as it is fun!
You will get a very spacious and a very clean room with everyday hot water which is not a very common thing in Grenada. You will get an excellent breakfast or dinner arrangement depending what you want. You will get the best recommendations from Lisette who runs the house and who would arrange for you all the local attractions. All the staff are nice and friendly so I am sure you will enjoy the stay there as I had.
In summary, travel to Grenada and stay in the Blue Bay Lodge...
