Visited for lunch today with two friends , one from UK the other from Ireland , had been to many venues in Grenada , but this is a hidden gem , with the most fab food and drink served by lovely staff , it is top of the list for a return trip. My friend from UK an avid bird watcher was very happy with all the birds she saw and said it was the best meal she had ever eaten .

We love the food at Petit Bacaye and it is always a pleasure to arrive on the island and visit for lunch. We have been coming here for 10 years now and never tire of it. The lobster salad is so tasty and the Christopine crumble delicious, as are all the other delights on the menu.

The staff are always so friendly and welcoming and we love chatting to Peter and Julia who keep us up to date with 'island happenings'. We usually spend the afternoon there after lunch enjoying the quiet seclusion, the lovely view, the beach, and watching the hummingbirds feeding. We are always provided with matresses for the loungers to sit and read and are topped up with drinks as required. We normally visit at least four times during our stay on the island and look forward to the fusion of tastes on the plates. Bliss in paradise.

We very much enjoyed our stay in Frangipani where the decor and facilities blend perfectly into this beautiful and relaxed setting. Sitting on the upper deck was the ideal way to appreciate the views over the lovely gardens and out to sea.
Very useful information about Grenada is always available from Peter and Julia (ably aided by Spare).
The staff are lovely, with Nat and Mama T providing meals that can be taken in the tree-top restaurant or at home in the villa. Jennifer kept us spic 'n span in the villa, while my Indian facial with Jessica was a revelation.
We enjoyed our daily swims with the very safe bay just 50 yards away.
Two weeks is necessary to appreciate fully both Petit Bacaye and this lovely friendly island.

If you want to get away from everything this should be your destination. This is a secluded hotel in a lovely bay surrounded by a protective reef. Fishing boats leave from the beach, you can buy your supper from the fisherman. The accommodation has everything you need for a comfortable holiday- cook for yourself with the lovely Grenadian produce or enjoy the excellent food cooked in hotel kitchen.
We spent many hours sitting on a high deck under an almond tree enjoying the lovely gardens, watching the hummingbirds in the tree, flying fish jumping from the calm blue waters in the bay and drinking in our opinion the best rum punch .

We stayed at the spice house and paid a lot more for it and ended up right next to a road that the local fishing groups use and the noise (pickups and oxy tanks, over the heavily rutted, potholed road etc) and loud yelling and swearing was right outside your window and underneath your "private" DECK! At first it was a "slice" and interesting but being jolted awake early every morning with yelling, arguing and swearing it got real old (only screeens on the windows so no way to close out the noise). No A/C and please note there is no nice beach here either, not even usable! The owners are really nice but beware this is not at all as advertised and there are much nicer places with beautiful beaches for the same price or less. The mosquitoes were terrible because of all the standing water so you could not sit outside at night after it got quiet. Very disappointing, especially for the $

We spent a week at Frangipani Cottage at PB and thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and surroundings.

The service:
All the staff at PB was very friendly and helpful, but unobtrusive. Housekeeping is every second day, except the kitchen bin which will be emptied every day. We both took a massage, which couldn't have been better. Definitely worth it!
We sometimes ordered food from the restaurant (great sea food!), which was then placed in our fridge for our convenience.
The cottage:
Frangipani features a shower with a view onto a small enclosed garden, a good sized bedroom with a mosquito net draping the bed, a screened veranda, a tiny kitchen and an outside platform with a table and 2 chairs, from where you can look out to the sea. We especially loved our screened veranda, since it kept most of the mosquitos away. There we ate, talked, read, played games or just listed to the waves crashing and the breeze ruffling the palm trees.
Location & Amenities:
PB is located between St. Georges and Grenville. There is not much close to it, but there is a small supermarket where you can buy basic supplies less than 10 minutes walk away. Till about 7 in the evening there are No. 2 mini buses to St. Georges and Grenville (3 EC$). From St. Georges you can take a no. 1 minibus to Grand Anse beach (EC$ 2.50). Just stand at the side of the road and signal that you want a lift. Very easy and fun. No buses on Sundays.
PB provides a grill, so you can buy fresh fish from the fishermen round noon and bbq it yourself.
The beach itself is quite narrow, and there is quite a lot of sea grass. We just put on plastic swim shoes and had no problem. The water is shallow in many places and near the island there is some decent snorkelling. Often we were the only people on the beach or in the water.

We liked best: the relaxation and quiet
We liked least: the mosquitos and the fact that you needed a car or a taxi to go anywhere after 7 o'clock.

Petit Bacaye is a glorious retreat. We stayed for 6 days and it's definitely a a very peaceful and relaxing venue. The beach isn't great though and there isn't a pool but we hired a jeep and were able to explore the island as well as getting time on other beautiful beaches in Grenada.

Grenada is a beautiful country and the locals very friendly. The hosts and staff at Petit Bacaye were very helpful and Peter gave us some interesting ideas of places to visit on the island.

We bought fish from the fishermen and Daniel the security guard helped us light the BBQ each night. We cooked every night, some of the roads are quite steep and full of pot holes so I wasn't keen on driving in the dark. I'd recommend ordering food from the restaurant on your first night and the rum punches are the best I've tasted in the Caribbean!

Our room and decking was lovely, they are only serviced every other day though (apart from the bins being emptied) and I do think that this should be done daily - there's not much effort needed to make a bed but it makes a difference to the guests to come back to a room that has been made-up. We never got any hot water from what we were told was a solar powered system in our room but survived!

I'd recommend this hotel if you want a completely peaceful and relaxing holiday but if you want any more than this then I'd suggest elsewhere.
