LaSagesse is a fantastic location. The room was great and righ on the beach.

The location is away from town and is very laid back.

Mike is the best host/owner you could fined. He was just full of island info. He was a great swimming partner wit us most mornings!

The staff at LaSagesse is just great. John Grenwich, Sandy, Wanda were jsut super.

The food at LaSagesse is very very good. We ate at quite a number of other locations as well and for the money you will be better off at LaSagesse.

The beach is much better here than at the famous Grand Anse.

Being avid snorkelers, we booked a week at La Sagesse in November. The property is beautiful, with lush, tropical grounds - set on a private cove with a near-deserted beach and fabulously warm water. With only a dozen rooms, you really get the chance to know other guests if you wish - who are largely British tourists, and middle-aged couples who have cashed in their lives stateside to buy a boat, and live a full-time life at sea (and who are always willing to share their wonderful sailing stories!). The Grenadans are very friendly people, and the island is beautiful! We did the monkey-tour with Mr. Boney, which is a MUST-DO - with the opportunity to take photos of the adorable Mona Monkeys and even pet Lover Boy! Now for the cons: the La Sagesse restaurant and bar is quite expensive (take lots of snacks!), and the menu is pretty limited, especially if you don't like seafood. And unfortunately, unless you have a rental car or want to pay for a taxi, there are not any other dining options in the immediate area. As for the snorkeling, we were disappointed to find very few fish - but having packed a couple of blow-up rafts and several beach-reading books, we still had a very relaxing time. Be warned of the invisible bugs on the island - particulary after sunset - and take DEET repellent and anti-itch cream! If you're looking for total relaxation (and very little "action") centered on tanning and swimming, La Sagesse is a gem - but unfortunately, not the best fit if you want great snorkeling and easy access to other dining and nightlife options.

We have stayed at La Sagesse three times now and would highly recommend it. The resort is completely secluded, on a horseshoe bay with gentle surf (it's on the Atlantic coast). Previous posts describe the rooms as simple but basic and I guess that's correct but they are so stylishly put together - the only way in which they could be said to be basic is that they lack TV, phone etc. But that's what's makes this place so brilliant - you can be completely isolated and just switch off. We've had three different rooms and the beds are wonderful in all - really really comfortable. The windows all have nets and there is a constant breeze from the ocean which helps keep the mosquitoes moving on. My husband definitely didn't get bitten anywhere near as badly at La Sagesse as on the Caribbean coast.

Breakfasts are amazing - the French toast with nutmeg syrup in particular was too divine. The resort is a little off the beaten track so unless you can be bothered to sort out a taxi you'll probably find yourself eating in the restaurant most evenings, which is not really a problem as the food is good.

The beach is very quiet - just a handful of sun loungers under sweeping palm trees for use by guests. There are no beach hawkers selling tat or hassling you, which you find on Grand Anse etc. The beach is shallow a long way out and v. good for swimming.

Boney's island tour is highy recommended. As described by other posts, he really does just bang the horn and yell out the windows and the monkeys come running up to the car. We saw the infamous Loverboy and his son, who sat in a tree and caught the bananas we threw to him. Both monkeys were friendly and let us stroke them. Boney said he's been going to feed the monkeys for years - it really was a brilliant experience. His knoweldge of the island and its wildlife, fruits and spices was unsurpassed - all throughout the day when we were on the tour, he would stop the car by every tree or plant of interest to point it out.

We decided that we wanted something really special, quiet and romantic for our honeymoon - and we got exactly what we wanted. This amazing, intimate hotel has just 12 rooms ,is off the beaten track and nestles totally on its own in a beautiful sweeping bay of white sand with turquoise sea gently lapping it's shore. The only people around are the few hotel guests and day visitors or people coming to dine in the wonderful restaurant.
It was almost as though civilisation had ceased to exist for a week - no TV, no phone - just peace and tranquility, sun and sand. We were made to feel so warmly welcome by Mike, one of the owners of this bijou paradise who lives in the "plantation house" on site and indeed nothing was too much trouble for him to help out with or arrange.
We are about to celebrate our first anniversary, but we often look back at the photos and remember our romantic, peaceful paradise with a happy smile.

Thank you so much to Mike, Nancy and Jerry for providing a perfect tropical getaway on Grenada. We LOVED every minute of our stay at the end of June 2008. since this was our first Caribbean vacation, Jerry spent time with my husband and I the first day of our stay to help us understand the local culture and Grenada. The best advice he gave us was to spend a day with Mr. Boney.

We did not visit Grenada for 5-star accomdations since we do not stay in our room much. The room is simple with everything that we needed: a bed, lamps, storage, and a bathroom. Nothing fancy, but everything perfect. We spent most of our time swimming, kayaking with the hotel boats, limin', exploring, and relaxing. If this is why you come to Grenada, then I'm certain that La Sagesse will meet your needs.

The staff is lovely and will cater to your every need. It is important to recognize that the staff is knowledgeable and have been with La Sagesse for many years. By saying good morning (afternoon, evening) first, asking their names, and take a general interest in local community members, you will not be disappointed at the generousity and kindness of the staff. We witnessed some vistor treating the staff as servants and not as people. The service they got was just that - if you coffee, then you get coffee. We can to adore the staff: Carol, Wendy, Samantha, Athea, Rolda, Jefferson, Hugo, Rachel, and more.

A day with Mr. Boney touring the island was one of the best days of our vacation. He made sure to teach us about the natural life of Grenada which included hiking to beautiful waterfalls, exploring the Grand Etang Reserve, feeding "Boney's monekey's" including the famous Lover Boy, finding fish in Grand Etang lake, exploring the various plants of the island, and a trip to the Belmont Estate. He made sure we were safe and well taken care of. He even taught me how to catch the lizards and land crabs!

We hope to return soon, Mike and Nancy, Washington State

La sagesse is in a lovely location - the waves lap up to the restaurant and some rooms are right on the beach. The hotel grounds are a of perfect laid back carribbean style. It's nice to walk around and relax there when it gets hot on the beach. The owner - Mike is very friendly and helpful. The accommodation in the ocean rooms is nice but basic but you don't want to spend much time there anyway when you should be living outdoors and exploring the picturesque surroundings. The food was very good and the service at night friendly and welcoming. I'd love to go there again and it was perfect for us.

I just got back from a wonderful week at La Sagesse and want to share the charm of this place with other travellers looking for a vacation that is the opposite of an all-inclusive resort style holiday. If you crave lots of people, pool parties and dancing till dawn, than this is NOT the place for you. If, however, you want to relax and enjoy beautiful surroundings in the company of only a few other travellers (and the resident dogs and cat), then La Sagesse is pure heaven.

The location is fantastic: gorgeous beach with very few people (but cows and goats on some days grazing on the beachside pasture at the far end of the beach!). A true nature lover's paradise. The rooms are basic in terms of decor but very clean and spacious (I stayed in the Green Room in the main house). You can't get any fresher food than a bucket of lobsters brought ashore directly from the fishing boat just before lunch and immediately featured on the menu -- lots of fresh fish and seafood as well as awesome BBQ Baby Back ribs!

A great expereince for those who like to get away from packaged vacations. I can't wait to return!
