And that reason is simple...the owners (Alicia and Rick Davison) are dedicated to making sure their guests have the best Dominican experience possible. They have built a first class lodge featuring large, well appointed, private cabanas as well as an excellent restaurant. We enjoyed all the meals we had there but would especially recommend the shrimp fritters and goat stew. The entire staff is friendly and highly service oriented. We spent 5 nights in the Ocean Suite and absolutely loved it...nothing like drifting off to sleep to the sound of the ocean and a gentle breeze.
We did some diving and hiking and general exploring of the island. Diving was excellent, but we were not favorably impressed with Dive Dominica as an operator. Great snorkeling at Scotts Head. The drive from PBH to Roseau was a little over an hour so plan accordingly. There was extensive roadwork underway while we were there, so drive time should be considerably shorter in the future. As is typical on mountainous islands driving can be an adventure and is not for the timid.
Our fist visit to the "nature island" but certainly not our last!More
