“Nice stay”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

I stayed at Esther's for a total of 4 nights, booked through Francisco from Villa Crystal. It was a very nice stay. The Casa is in a very central, the room was clean and has a private bathroom. Sitting on the Esther's patio watching the world goes by was quite interesting. One moment you see a classic car goes by, the next you see a guy riding a horse. Esther also rents out bicycle and it was a great way to see Vinales since it is fairly flat.
Esther speaks Spanish only, and sadly my Spanish was lacking. However, we were able to communicate for the most part. For the really complicated stuff, her relatives (Francisco and Annie) across the street were very helpful and were able to arrange tours as well.
Esther's son, Wakim, who is a taxi driver, also drove me to the airport in Havana at 4am and had saved me a lot of time and hassle.
Overall, it was a great stay.

We booked the house through Villa Cristal, who is in front.
We really enjoyed the stay at this house. She picked us up from the bus station which is very near. The town is very small, so I guess you could walk anywhere. Esther's pollo con papas was the most delicious chicken we tried in Cuba. My husband requested croquetas and she made some special for us. They were really delicious.
We took a tour to all the interesting places in Viñales with her husband Joaquin. He owns a white chevrolet from the 40s. It was a great looking classic car. He took us to the two cuevas, the mirador, the mural de prehistoria, the finca de tabaco Benito, to his family's organic finca called La Loma, and the palenque.
We like to walk so Esther recommended us to go up Ascuy street. Go up the street until you find Finca Raul Reyes, say hi to the owner, pass the finca, turn left, go up the hill and you will see an amazing view of the town between two mogotes.
Great stay! We spent two nights there.

We stayed at Casa Esther for 2 nights, she was very helpful and kind. The room is bright and very large, it would be big enough for 4 people. We had a lovely dinner there too, and she didn't mind when we came in late after attempting to dance salsa in the town. Highly recommended.

We stayed there (a couple with an adult daughter) for 2 nigths in February. The house is well located, close to the very center of Vinales. The room was clean, comfortable, with private bathroom, shower and hot water. Esther is a nice host and a good cook. She is serving perfect home made coffee (cuban style), breakfasts and dinners. Remarkable ,moros y christianos' (black beans and rice)! She is also vey helpful giving good advice. Her husband Joaquin is driving fantastic old Cadillac and is offering trips around the area of Vinales (caves). A day in Vinales you can finish off sitting on the veranda, drinking room and having nice chat with the hosts (basic level of spanish necessary). Family atmosphere you will enjoy.

I stayed two days in Feb. 2012. Esther met me at the bus stop insisted to carry a bag to her Casa. She is shy as she does not speak english but knows how to take care of her guests.
The casa is spotless, has hot water in a private bathroom. A basic room with AC with two double beds. She has a neighbour who speaks english and is very helpful.

My wife and I visited Cuba for the first time during the last 2 weeks of January 2012 and after 3 nights in Havana we stayed at Casa Esther for 2 nights not really knowing what to expect. The room was very clean and spacious and whilst there was no back garden or roof area the front porch made a great people watching spot. By the end of our trip we had stayed in 5 diffrent Casas and whilst Esther's did not have the relaxing areas others offered it was by far and away the best cooking we experienced in Cuba. We would have no hesitation in staying with Esther again on our next trip and hope we can speak enough Spanish by then to converse with Esther.

We stayed 3 days in Casa Esther early January. The room and the bathroom were very clean and spacious. Esther cooked the best 2 meals we ate in our 2 week cuba trip. her son Joaquin has a nice 1950's car cab. He drived us around for 2 days including the beach, the caves, tobacco farms and all other interesting places Vinales has to offer. Overall we had a great experience. I strongly suggest Casa Esther.
