Just sat on the sofa in the window of the Big Rock having finished a butternut squash, goats cheese and pickle with salad. The combination works really well and the nutty brown bread that came with it was spot on. Well done all round!

What a lovely coffehouse/cafe.. friendly staff, a crazy, well thought out menu.. they buy there stuff in from local businesses, but share their info with you.. (dont buy it all from us, go pay cheaper and take home a whole cake) Lovely breakfast too.. washed down with a freshly squezzed that minute juice (oh and they open on a sunday for church goers to have a quick cuppa after service)

This cafe is on the main street in Porthmadog, and looks a liitle low key. However the choice of food is super for lunch-great wraps and paninis-we had jacket potato with ham and a lovely side salad, and falafel wrap with 2 beakers of tea £12.The food is freshly made, the cakes, breads etc are baked by The Weigh nearby. Children can have a 'bag' lunch with good selections.Plenty of room at the back of the cafe and good toilets!

My husband and I went on the Welsh Highland Railway in August, and we came across this lovely café in Porthmadog. The first thing we noticed was the fantastic selection of food all around us, and so much of it was fresh too! We were happily surprised how reasonable the prices were. My husband had a brie Panini which was delicious and I had warm fresh toast with real butter and well made tea. The real surprise to us was to see a hand written scripture from the Bible on a large blackboard, for all to see, which the owner unashamedly puts up. In a changing world, it's good to see that some things don't change. We would recommend this place to anyone.

Big Rock is a great cafe, a very welcome find while we were camping in the area. Good choice of tea and coffee varieties, smoothies, home-made cakes and good cooked breakfast with proper butchers suasages and bread baked by the sister business The Weigh, a bakery which is sited a few doors down. A visit to The Weigh is definitely recommended - the bread is sensational.
