I stayed here on my way to, and coming back from, Islay. Andrew's place could easily have been my destination as his rooms were clean and comfortable, his food was delicious, his knowledge of the area was extensive, and the views were unbelievable. Being my first trip to Scotland, Andrew introduced me to the local delicacies (haggis, black pudding, potato scone) and the traditional way to eat them (nothing like starting the day of with a touch of whiskey on your haggis. .. after all I was in Scotland!). I am so glad that I stumbled across The Moorings and will definitely make it my go to place in the area.

have stayed at this B&B 3 times so far, and will stay there again. Andrew makes you very welcome the rooms upstairs are out of this world, we have stayed in manly hotels and b&b all over scotland and the Moorings outranks them all. If you are thinking of staying in tarbert book in the moorings you will not be disapointed.

If you are after a picturesque Scottish fishing village then you should pay Tarbert a visit, and stay at this wonderful B&B. The 4 of us stayed in the two upper rooms, where the view of the harbour is just gorgeous. The rooms are sweetly decorated with different artifacts that we found to be in good taste. In fact, the entire house is beautifully styled, from the dining room through the staircase down to the garden. Andrew is as nice and helpful as can be. We enjoyed traditional breakfast in the dining room, which is also overlooking the harbour.
A short walk up to the castle just above the B&B is highly recommended - the view from the little hill with sheep and hares is serene and plain beautiful (make sure to bring along a midge head net, though).

Room Tip: Rooms facing the harbour have a spectacular view, especially those on the upper floor.

Thankyou Andrew, for your warm welcome and your little gem of a B&B tucked away in the beautiful village of Tarbert. You were worried about us having the smallest room, but as you saw, we're half pints ourselves so we loved it!! Comfortable beds and a lovely Scottish breakfast - what more could anyone want? We'll see you again!

We had a WONDERFUL experience at The Moorings in Tarbert. Andrew has a fantastic reputation and now that we have stayed there we fully agree. It was wonderful, clean, friendly and the breakfast is to die for. Andrew knows how to cater for his guests in different ways, even if it is a little note to say what is available. Thanks Andrew!

Room Tip: Book in advance!

As well as being in a fine location overlooking part of Tarbert harbour, it was convenient for the ferry & also town restaurants. There was a rather special garden & the house & service were first class.
Parking was ok & free & the breakfast set you up for the rest of the day. Hope to be back sometime.
