Description: With an abundance of world famous local ingredients at our disposal, including Creelers smoked salmon, locally landed seafood, venison and game birds, our chefs create superb meals. Good quality dining and excellent service go hand-in-hand at the West Loch Hotel. You can enjoy both in our light and airy restaurant. A small, family-run establishment, the West Loch Hotel dates from around 1780, and is well known locally for having some of the best food in the area. We are well placed for guests passing through, and for those wishing to spend longer in the area, exploring Argyll & the Isles. Ideally located for people heading on the whisky trail to Islay (just minutes from the ferry), most guests find our large whisky selection the perfect start to their adventure! A charming, former coaching inn, the hotel has been sympathetically modernised over the years, retaining many of its original features. Our rooms are dog-friendly, with a choice of double or single rooms, and we have also got family rooms available for those travelling with children. Able to cater for small events, from birthday parties to weddings, we always go the extra mile to make sure your special occasion is extra special.

Dined with brother & his wife. Ladies both had smoked haddock which was just fabulous!!
Brother had battered haddock - best batter he had ever tasted!! The furnishings and general décor were terrific - would highly recommend this establishment.

I stopped here for a meal with my wife and two friends, and we thouroughly enjoyed our time there. Here are my thoughts on the West Loch experience.

The Hotel; Idyllic setting only yards from the shore of the loch. Sitting at the windows in the dining area gave us great views and we savoured every minute.

The Staff; Very friendly and welcoming. We wanted a couple of minor alterations to some meals and it was no trouble at all. The owner spoke to us a few times and came across as genuinely interested in our feedback.

The Food; What can you say? Excellent. The four of us had different dishes and we all agreed that the food was top notch. It is very obvious that everything was fresh, not only that it was also cooked to perfection. The menu states that all food is sourced locally, and you can tell that the chef cares about what is presented to you.

All in all, an excellent meal in a stunning setting at very reasonable prices for the type of food supplied. Highly recommended.

What a great night sleep, the bed was great and an excellent shower, I have stayed in Hilton Executive rooms and the West Loch Hotel is far more comfortable. Oh and the Steak was perfect.

After a long drive from Newcastle what I really needed was a good meal and boy did we get it. We were both tired so didn't really psuh the boat out. The bottled beer on the bar was great [although the draught was the always disappointing Tennants ] and they served some absolutely sublime bread whilst we were waiting for starters. Celia had a crab & prawn salad as a starter which she said was great while I had haggis & root vegetables in tempura batter.

By now tiredness had kicked in and we'd opted for simple burgers for main course, mine with blue cheese & bacon - and they were great. Moist, thick, juicy, tender burders with thick-cut beautifully crispy chips. Heaven food!
