We have eaten at the French Connection twice in the last week! A friend of ours came up for the weekend and it was his birthday so we booked a table for Saturday evening. It was pretty full. They have a new menu in some swanky new menu covers. The great thing about it was that most of the options in the menu are listed as gluten free and there is a good vegetarian selection as well.
I started off with the pate which was delicious followed by pork in a wonderful sauce. My wife and our friend both opted for the duck which they said just fell off the bone. They have a good selection of desserts and a good value cheese plate which we sampled with relish. The house red (Palombieres) was a very palatable accompaniment to the food. Great night.
This Thursday we went along to their Moules Frites/Steak Frites evening. Much quieter than Saturday. We opted for mains and desserts. I had the Steak in a peppercorn sauce and accompanying frites at £21.95 and my wife opted for the Moules Frites at £14.95. Both were excellent. I had the Affogato dessert (3 scoops of vanilla ice-cream with a shot of espresso coffee) and my wife opted for the Crepes Normande. As usual the service and welcome was good and friendly. They've also got a special Valentines Evening coming up. I'll let you guess what date that is on!
