White Rose Hotel
Ranked #6 of 7 Askrigg B&B and Inns
Reviewed August 18, 2013

stayed 3 nights in this excellent and well located hotel. The staff, and in particular, the owner Sue, could not have been friendlier. We have stayed in Askrigg before but this was the first time we stayed at the White Rose. Our room, No 4, was very spacious and very clean. Food was excellent with local produce used when available. We will be returning to Askrigg in the future and will definitely be staying at the White Rose. P.S. good luck to Leeds United FC for the coming season!

We had read the previous reviews & booked last minute with some trepidation. But we were very pleasantly surprised by both the hotel & the welcome. The room was lovely & big too. Clean & had everything we wanted. We stayed to have dinner in the resturant. There was soo much really good food we could not manage a pudding, which we were very disappointed about as they looked great. We would reccommend this hotel to our friends. And will go back. And all the staff were very friendly too.

Room Tip: We stayed at the front road side, top floor, cool & no road noise.

We have just had a 5 night break at The White Rose. We found the room to be very clean and spacious also the rest of the hotel. the restaurant was nice and light and airy and the food was very good always hot and well presented. The landlady and rest of the staff were very pleasent and chatty. The hotel is central for exploring the area

The bar looks like a working men's club with fruit machines and wide screen tv which you have to walk through to get to the restaurant. The decor could do with updating. The landlady/manageress has all the charm of previous poor reviews, however our waitress was very nice and very attentive. Food was OK but the coffee took forever to arrive.
We should have gone back to the King's Head across the road which was much nicer and all the staff were friendly!

Me and my wife recently stayed at a Holliday Cottage in the next village on called bainbridge, we stayed Monday to Friday and we visited the White Rose Hotel on the Monday night for a meal, the landlady chatted to us whilst getting our drinks and then told us that the waiter would take us to our table. I have never had such good service at any restaurant I've been to, than that I got from this waiter, he was very professional and knew exactly what he was doing, he talked to all the customers and made sure they were fine and that there experience of the food was alright. Me and my wife stayed behind at our table whilst he was relaying tables for the morning, and we asked him what he did, and he informed us that he was a 16 year old school boy, who worked at the hotel a couple of times a week. Me and my wife couldn't believe that a 16 year old boy could be so professional and precise about a job in that industry, he was a true delight to be served by and hopefully all the staff at the establishment are like him. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and we had drinks and chatted to the bar man about rugby and football after the meal whilst my wife and the bar lady from before chatted. This is a really exceptional hotel and I would thoroughly suggest visiting

A group of us recently stayed at the White Rose and were made very welcome. The food was excellent and we enjoyed both breakfasts and evening meals. There is plenty of parking space and the rooms are clean and tidy. This is a great base to explore this part of Yorkshire and we will be back.

13 of us stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and had third night free. Breakfast was excellent - hot, well cooked, not greasy, quick and friendly service. Good coffee! We also had two dinners at the White Rose which were also excellent. Enjoyed sitting in the garden after our walks enjoying bird song and views of the hills. The room I was in was clean, spacious and well furnished - traditional furniture in keeping with the age and design of the hotel. I would have liked more drawer space but managed by hanging up clothes in the large wardrobe. The landlady was very efficient and helpful. We chatted with her a couple of times and found her to be very approachable.
