This is a lovely place to stay. We stayed for just one night, and will be back. Our room was warm. cosy and spacious. We were made very welcome on our arrival, and provided with a nice cup of tea. The breakfast was just as others have described, plenty to fuel a day's walking.

Thanks for a very enjoyable stay,

ps - buy the fruited teacakes from the shop - delicious.

Room Tip: book a room !

We booked this B&B as friends were staying in Askrigg but there were no vacancies at their hotel ~ and how pleased we were! We think we got the better deal.
The B&B is above the village shop and tea rooms, only has 2 rooms and is the better for that. The character staircase is fantastic tho you'll have to watch your head on the way down if you're taller than 5' 7"! We stayed in room 2 which overlooked the church at the front of the building. The room was beautifully decorated and really spacious with lots of character and a lovely, modern en-suite.
Breakfast was served in the tea rooms with choice of cereal and juice then a choice of locally sourced ingredients to make up a very full English or omelette. Toast was proper bread, cut from a loaf, not pre-sliced processed stuff.
Our hosts couldn't do enough for us which means we'll have to look for another reason to go back!

Room Tip: If you want a bath to soak in after your walk, choose room 2.

The new owners had only been at Sykes for two weeks and apparently we were their first 'customers'. The room was lovely, comfortable bed and nice sofa to sit on and watch the TV after a great walk in the Dales. The breakfast was fabulous, locally sourced and cooked to perfection.
We have usually stayed in West Burton but Askrigg has spoiled us! What a beautiful village. We can definately recommend The Crown for fabulous pub grub and The Kings Arms for a more formal meal (can be eaten as bar meals too!)
Cant wait to return.

We can confirm previous glowing reports of this historic B & B. Lisa is a star and we felt very much at home (although I don't get home made bread at home!). Fascinating building with its twisty stone staircase and beamed ceilings. All the comforts and excellent breakfasts.
Faultless,
Will definitely think of a good reason to return.

Simply the best B&B in the dales.Comfortable, warm, homely and welcoming. Lisa and Keith are so friendly and made us feel more like family. The location is beautiful and is helped by having 3 pubs which all do food. The breakfast is really tasty and made with local produce, and it's rather large.
Sykes House is probably the best B&B we have ever stayed in.

Lovely location. Room two was very comfortable. Breakfast was a real blow-out, excellent. Mobile phone and tv reception was poor but this was a positive thing. Lisa very friendly and welcoming hostess. Good value bed and breakfast.

Room Tip: Room two was great....it could benefit from occasional table for the laptop

We received a warm welcome by Lisa when we turned up slightly late and completely drenched after a day walking in the Dales. The room was beautifully decorated and more importantly nice and warm. The gorgeous biscuits on the tea tray were a much appreciated treat with our brew.

The towels were really nice and fluffy and my boyfriend wanted to know what type of washing powder they used because they smelt nice.

Downstairs the B&B is a tea room and shop so on waking up on Sunday morning we could hear all the locals coming to get their Sunday papers. We went down to eat breakfast in what I suppose would be the tea room later in the day - lovely breakfast, not too overfacing as we ordered what we wanted the evening before.

Lovely place with lots of character - I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: There are only 2 rooms - we chose room no. 2 as it had a bath.
