There were 11 of us comprising 3 generations. The pub is traditional/basic with certainly no pretentions to culinary greatness. The local beer was excellent as was the roast beef which was succulent but one of our number was very disappointed in her roast pork choice. Meal came plated ; red cabbage was good but kids simply don't like it. The Yorkshire puddings were chewy, below average and a bit tasteless. Sweets were reasonable and very generous.
In view of previous Tripadvisor comments, which had tempted us here, we felt a bit let down and that we'ld made the wrong choice of hostelry in Askrigg.
