Ashcroft Guest House

What a find, we are very grateful to our friends who highly recommended Ashcroft following their stay earlier in the year. We stayed for 3 nights in September in room 10. A very large room tastefully furnished and decorated, spotlessly clean, everything you need.
The house is set in wonderful gardens with superb views and is a perfect venue for exploring the countryside and the fascinating history of Hadrians wall.
Geoff and Christine are perfect hosts, they are so very friendly and welcoming. They sincerely want you to thoroughly enjoy your stay in their home. There is a great choice for breakfast which sets you up for the day.
We will certainly be returning to Ashcroft in the future.

Room Tip: Room 10 is highly recommended. That said I am sure all the rooms are of a very high quality.

If you are anywhere's near this area - STAY HERE! Geoff & Christine are the ultimate delight. Their home is beautiful and they are over the top accommodating! We were in love with every moment and only wish we had arrived earlier and that our agenda had allowed us to stay another day or five to enjoy the property. Stay stay stay here! Can't say enough good things! They are so informative of the area and make you feel as if you are the only ones staying at the house. Best B&B ever stayed in!

Room Tip: Room 8 is delightful! 2 balconies and large enough room to do pilates in the morning while my husba...

This grand old victorian home was once a vicarage. It is a stunning mansion which is as spotless as they come with beautifully manicured gardens. We had room 10 which was huge and had the biggest bed we have ever slept in. The room was adorned with beautiful antique furniture with space to throw a party in. There was a huge flat screen tv if that's your fancy. The bathroom was spacious with a beautiful claw foot bath as well as a separate shower. Breakfast was fantastic, cooked on an agar with a great choice and served with banter from the friendly cook in the most beautiful large dining room with sandstone fireplace. The owner Geoff was extremely friendly and helpful and liked a joke. If you don't stay here, it is your loss. We have been traveling a month and this is the only accommodation that I have no choice but to give a 10 out 10

Spent two nights here with friends while visiting Hadrian's Wall. Very warm welcome. Beautiful house. Spacious, spotlessly clean and very well decorated room (5) with a great view of the gardens. Friends we in room 4 which had a balcony too. Breakfast was excellent, with a great choice cooked to order. We tried a wide range off the menu between four of us over two days and everything was very high quality and well cooked. Overall, the best guest house accommodation we've ever stayed in and really good value for money. We'll definitely stay again and will look forward to doing so.

My husband and I decided to stay overnight in Haltwhistle and luckily found the Ashcroft they only had the self contained apartment left which was immaculate in every way.... Clean, comfortable and everything you need to hand.
The breakfast was brilliant and the staff and Christine really pleasant and helpful nothing too much trouble.
Will definitely stay again but for longer as it is a beautiful area with outstanding scenery.
The garden at the Ashcroft was truly beautiful and if the weather is good the perfect place to sit and relax.

Room Tip: All the rooms are quiet

Upon arrival at Ashcroft House you are greeted with the most beautiful gardens and picturesque country estate. The view will literally take your breath away. But this is only the tip of the experience you are about to enjoy. You will be greeted by your hosts Geoff and Christina. They will help you get settled and assist with any directions or suggestions for the area..tours, sights, pubs etc. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable and well supplied with sundries. The great treat is not the tea tray with lovely cookies but the sumptuous bath robes that await after your shower once you have finished a long day of walking on the Wall. To top off your stay will be the breakfast. Christina is the chef and your breakfast will be one to delight your taste buds as well as settle your sprit as you look out over the garden and yard and realize that you are here for a moment and your stay at Ashcroft will be with you forever. This bed and breakfast is a must if you are planning a trip to Hadrian's Wall Country. It is perfectly positioned as well extremely comfortable. Book ahead they stay busy and were full each night we were there!

Room Tip: Rooms on the front overlook the gardens but rooms in the back have balconies.

We spent 2 great nights at this picturesque B&B in the middle of August. Travelling with 2 children (ages 11 & 9), we stayed in the apartment connected to the main house. Perfect for us, as the kids had their own room, tv and bathroom, and we didn't have to worry about making too much noise. Christine and Geoff are just both fantastic people, who really welcome you into their home, and give great tips on visiting the area and places to eat. Location is great to visit the popular sites of Hadrian's Wall, and you just won't find a better breakfast in the UK! Highly recommend.
