“Romantic hideaway”
Reviewed October 9, 2018 for a stay in October 2018

We stayed at the drovers for a week while touring the wall. What an awesome romantic place. From the wine and chocolates to the great facilities throughout, the flat showed the thoughtfulness of our hosts Ian and Stella for our comfort and enjoyment. Centrally located near both the station and bus stop and with parking off street in the rear it’s an awesome place as a base for walking the wall or a romantic live nest. Especially enjoyed the bay window over the Main Street on sunny afternoons. Stay warm and watch the world go by. Sainsburys is less than a two minute walk down the lane and awesome eateries nearby if you don’t want to cook. Loved it and will be back

“Lovely apartment”
Reviewed September 13, 2017 for a stay in September 2017

We recently stayed at Drovers rest and it was a perfect base for walking Hadrians wall. It was clean, well stocked and extremely comfortable. There is an excellent bus/train service on your doorstep and a lovely pub opposite ( the black bull)
The owner was there to meet us on arrival and left us with a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates.... thank you very much.
We would definitely recommend this apartment and would stay here again should we return to holiday in this area.

“Would stay here again and recommend it to anyone”

We booked a week at the Drover's Rest while walking Hadrian's Wall. It was an ideal location and we manged to navigate every place from Heddon-on-Wall to Carlisle from here. The bus stop is right downstairs, and several buses stop there, most importantly the AD122. The train station is a short walk from the rental. There is a great pub (The Black Bull) right across the square and several grocery stores within short distance, from the Sainsbury's just out back to the local butcher practically next door. When the Black Bull was closed for dinner, we went up to the Mile Castle Pub on the bus and then had a pleasant walk back down, via the road or the burn.
The rental itself is very clean and comfortable. Everything is quite new and kept in good working order — from the clothes washer to the wifi. One of the greatest features is the bedroom window. You can lie in bed and watch the night sky in apparently one of the darkest places around. In May the sky only grew dark around 11 pm and the sky was lightening by 4 am, so after a big day's walk it was pleasant to fall asleep looking at the stars.
The folks who own this place are extremely pleasant and accommodating. Yes, we recommend the Drover's Rest!!!

“Highly recommended”
Reviewed December 6, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Nice, very friendly welcome from the owners.
Excellent furnishing, spotless accommodation - really everything we needed.
Apartment centrally located, quiet, despite being in the centre of town with Sainsbury's just a short walk away.
Close to bus stop and railway station with many interesting places to visit nearby and within convenient travelling distance.
Local people very friendly. Brilliant weather for the entire stay.

“An enjoyable and very comfortable stay in the heart of Haltwhistle”
Reviewed August 18, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

This first floor apartment was large, spotlessly clean and the feature bay window allowed plenty of natural light. The kitchen was fully functional with a large dining table and two very comfortable settees to watch the large flat screen TV. The spacious bedroom was clean and comfortable with plenty of storage.

The large bathroom was only let down by the smallish shower however there was constant hot water and plenty of towels provided.

The apartment was located in the middle of a very friendly town with easy walking to the supermarket and the local (extremely hospitable) pubs. A short walk to the train station makes this apartment accessible to those without a car.

This was an ideal spot to visit Hadrians Wall as well countless walks and we would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends and relatives.

“A perfect place for a holiday in the area”
Reviewed June 28, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Set on Main Street opposite the market place very close to shops pubs and bus stop with Sainsburys at the back it couldn't be more convenient we were met by Stella who was very friendly and helpful, there was chocs and wine which didn't last long but thats another story. There are many leaflets on the surrounding area. Everything we needed was supplied in short it could not be faulted.
If you want pies you must try Billy Bells just up the road

“Great little place to stay”
Reviewed April 20, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

As many of the other reviews have commented on the Drover’s Rest is clean, well maintained, in a great location and has all you would require from a holiday let. The check-in, by the owner Ian, was welcoming and helpful, and the bottle of wine and Easter egg was a nice touch. There are a few pubs nearby, the Jubilee is recommended for its refreshingly surprising decor and atmosphere. We walked from the apartment to Hadrian’s Wall on a 6 mile day out which was great, but were disappointed to find that Milecastle pub closed at 3pm on a Bank Holiday; so no refreshing drink for us on the way back from our trek. Overall, a great place to stay and would recommend it without hesitation.
