We saw the "dogs welcome" sign and headed straight for the place. There are so few places where dogs can join their owners inside and you do start to feel a bit of an outcast in Budleigh Salterton. Anyway, the tea shop was lovely, if a little expensive. The children joined me for a pot of tea (£2.20 each, served in a china teapot into china cups, and there were at least 3 cups each with the extra hot water we were offered - so quite reasonable). The scones were rather more pricey, but we were on holiday so we treated ourselves. In fact they were quite large and served with lashings of butter! I was disappointed with the outside toilet - they could have done a lot more with it ( too small, draughty, grotty-looking, with a wobbly seat) and my daughter (aged 8) wasn't impressed either. Overall we would visit again as they allow dogs and it was cosy inside on a wet and windy day.
