The previous reviews are accurate - this looks nice from the outside but inside it's a different story! The majority of the rooms are very shabby. Our bathroom door had a nice fist sized hole punched in it.

The staff were rude and unhelpful, and luckily we declined the breakfast and ate elsewhere. One note of warning - don't put your hands anywhere near the bar at closing time - the shutter slams down and the staff are in such a desperate hurry to leave you may find your fingers trapped!

Do not give this Hotel your money - go elsewhere!

The function room was good with a smallish main room, bar and lovely gardens to sit outside, but the rooms were awful.
The whole hotel area could do with a clean, threadbare carpets, very creaky stairs, and a bannister which pulled away from the wall if leant on!
The room door did not fit properly - the gap was so large we had to put a blanket at the bottom to keep the light out (as did several other guests).
The twin room (expected a double) had two narrow beds at opposite corners, no separate lights, and an ancient alarm clock/radio. The telephone display didn't work.
The carpet needed cleaning, the toilet door had an uneven large gap under it, and in the drawers we found - a large nu/bolt/washer, a screw, a bar receipt from Oct 06, a magazine from June 2000 and old tourism info (2004 earliest). Shows how well they clean this place!
The bathroom shower was rubbish (temperature kept dropping), the bottom of the shower curtain was mouldy and the water took about half an hour to drain away after a five-minute shower!
The worst part was having the air-conditioning unit mounted within four feet of the bedroom window which meant we didn't get much sleep.
Problems in other rooms were a bed which leant downhill, shower not working, bathroom doors that wouldn't shut and the air-con fan.
As for the breakfast, go to Tescos or somewhere instead. Incredibly greasy, the fried bread was simply disgusting, sausages were the cheapest possible and the bacon was off-cuts not nice rashers .
The ethos seems to be simple - have a nice bridal suite, nice rooms for the parents, but the guests don't matter in the slightest. The manager was sat smoking inside the building on a lovely sunny morning - kind of sums the place up!

Having lived in the area, i had returned after some time and needed a place to stay. Wincham Hall Hotel was somewhere I had admired, as it always looked nice and had a sweeping driveway...so I booked. I have to say the staff are lovely, polite. The room was ok, and the decor very dated. The walls are really (and I mean really thin!)...you can hear most neighbouring conversations.!

For the price, its a nice hotel - makes a change from a Premier Inn/travellodge.

I stayed at this small 12-room hotel for just one night. The hotel is in an old house, decorated rather haphazardly -- no interior designer here! The single room was pleasantly decorated with the usual tea/coffee/ironing board. Downstairs there is a small bar and restaurant serving the usual British fare. Ostensibly, the hotel is really nothing to write home about, but the staff were without exception friendly, helpful and kind. This is a very low-tech place, with no broadband or even dial-up for guests. "I am sorry," the receptionist said. "But you can use OUR office, if you don't mind the mess." So I was able to check my mail, and she brought me tea and biscuits on a tray. I had a glass of beer and a so-so sandwich, served by another charming staff member in the evening, met the hotel cat and was solicitously asked if I was warm enough by the nice barman. In the morning yet another smiling staff member brought a perfectly adequte breakfast cooked by the very tattooed chef. While I waited for my lift, they brought me another thoughtful cup of tea. In short, the extraordinarily helpful staff turned a rather ordinary little hotel into a very nice place to stay.
