“Loved it!”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

My parents took me here for lunch. I've eaten in many top class restaurants over the years, but that's not what this restaurant is - it's focus is good oldfashioned service with an oldfashioned menu and food prepared well without it being Michelin standard. I loved the little details like the butter curls.
I had the soup to start with (lovely) followed by a perfectly cooked grilled trout with a generous selection of vegetables. The sweet trolley was a blast from the past. The lemon cheesecake was beautiful.
Yes, the decor is stuck in the past, but that was ok. Fresh linen table cloths and napkins. And the service was impeccable and friendly.
I'd defintely go back.

“Wonderful”
Reviewed February 17, 2013 via mobile

Having had a shocker of a week me and some friends decided to come here before Christmas. (Friday the 14th) As we got there the restaurant was full so we sat close to the bar and had a drink while some of the staff/manager came to talk to us and handed us so of the menus for us to take a gander. They made us feel very welcome and soon had us seated at a table.

I had a wonderful experience in terms of the service and the food! The beef Wellington being am exceptional, also decided to have an Irish coffee which was great too. The only problem would be the extremely loud party of about 10 that enjoyed shouting at each other rather than just talking. Obviously got a bit too merry but can't blame them it was nearly Christmas!

Overall thoroughly enjoyed the experience!
Would definitely visit again.

“Disappointed”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

We had been here for dinner previously in the evening and thought it was good value. How wrong we were when we went for Sunday lunch to celebrate a 75th. Service was hurried and the food was so disappointing. Most people had the "roast". It came out on large trays in portions covered in gravy, obviously not just cooked. The vegetables were overcooked - white cabbage and carrots, not what you expect with your Sunday lunch. When we queried items on the bill for drinks they were unable to tell us what the items were for, the owner said we just put the amount down when we serve the drink! He got quite annoyed when we said this was unacceptable in this day and age. So beware if you order drinks at this establishment. He just lost 25 customers. Biggles your days are numbered in my opinion.

“Not quite what I had expected”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

Although the food was good, it wasn't special. Far too many tables for space, and felt claustrophobic. Bar area is tiny and where ever you stand you're in teh way. There are better restaurants out there, I was quite disappointed after reading all the good reviews, so don't be fooled.

“Biggles, Denham”
Reviewed December 18, 2012

Despite the restaurant being full of high spirited people getting in the mood of Christmas, the waiting staff were attentive at all times. We were a fairly large party and all our starters came out together as did our main courses, all piping hot and beautifully cooked.
Can't praise the management and all their staff highly enough.
