I’ve stayed at four of the Paradors nearest to Madrid – La Granja, Alcala des Henares, Avila and Chinchon – and, without doubt, I found the latter to be the most charming. The Parador Chinchon is stylish with updated rooms and pleasant public spaces. Our modern refurbished room was well appointed with good lighting, plenty of electrical sockets and a good wifi signal plus the usual amenities of mini-bar, air-con and extra pillows to be found in the wardrobe and, of course, clean and spotless.
The hotel has a relaxing atmosphere with a charming internal courtyard, a peaceful and ornate garden and an immaculate swimming pool area. The evening meals were a delight and served outside under a tree-canopied terrace.
Chinchon is not the cheapest of Paradors and indeed both breakfast and garage parking were extras. Parking was an underground car park a short block down the road. The hotel itself is just across from the corner of the unique Plaza Mayor which, when we visited in August, had been converted into a temporary bullring with fiesta in full swing.
I found the hotel very atmospheric and the location in the small town of Chinchon was for me far more pleasurable than staying in a big concrete block type of hotel in downtown Madrid. It made a great stopover en route from Barajas International airport – about 50km away. Incidentally, if you want to splurge, I was told the “unique” room, a feature much loved by the Parador chain, is extra special.

I stayed there last year october, which was my second time around,,,,nd again, I fell in love with the parador and the village, it is just stunning and very romantic. The parador itself is quiet and lovely, the suites, some with balcony are delightful and in local style appointed. Having stayed in a regular room before, I would definitely book the suites again, it is worthwhile and makes the visit even more special. I also enjoyed a lovely lunch at their restaurant but opted, as usual to eat in the village itself, all within walking distance, in my books this is the place to be when staying in Chinchon!

Room Tip: The suites are stunning, and worth upgrading to it!

A converted monastery in the middle of Chinchon, spectacular in its own right, with lovely gardens, but no Castle of Siguenza. Reception staff friendly and helpful.

Hotel is right in the middle of Chinchon and would be an ideal location to stay and visit the bull fighting festivities. Lots of bars and restaurants on the door step of the hotel.

No parking in front of the Hotel (There is space for a few vehicles!), Instead there is underground parking across the road at the cost of 11 Euros. No welcome drinks voucher issued for bar.

Standard room; really large with double bed, desk chairs, fold down couch, LCD TV, mini bar and room safe. Free WiFi with a strong, fast, signal in the bedroom.

No major issue on my visit with the swimming pool. Pool attendant brought sun loungers and towels, although with about a dozen guests around the pool he had run out of cushions. The pool attendant is also the pool barman, so can provide beer, wine and drinking water.

Enjoyable meal; bread & olive oil, an amuse bouche, large starter and big slab of meat for main. Waiting staff all friendly and helpful.

Breakfast buffet had a wide selection of fruit, cereal, cold meats and pastry. A limited selection of hot food (sausage, ham, eggs), but it is Spain after all.

We loved both the hotel, which used to be an abbey I think, and the village market place which was circular, elizabethen type era, with wooden balconies all round and in the middle was a area of cobblestones used as a bull-ring. One could just imagine dining on one of the balconies and watching all the activities going on below. The hotel rooms were spacious, and very comfortable, meals were well cooked with plenty of choices and the staff were found to be very good indeed and most helpful. Certainly a place not to be missed if travelling past Madrid. Well worth the detour to experience this village of a by-gone era.

Room Tip: Room with a view a good idea, we also like to be a short distance away from lifts.

This is the 3rd Parador we stayed. One night before this one, we stayed in Parador in Leon, that was FAR better in any possible way.

Firstly, this is the first Parador that would charge 11.5 euro per day for parking while on booking.com it advertise free parking!

Room was just so so. Big but feels empty and poorly decorated.

Service was far from what you would like to expect! You do not feel warm and being taken care of.

This is NOT a Parador I would suggest!

Spent two nights here recently on a short-break visiting the Madrid region. The Parador is lovely, all we've come to expect from them really. Good room although bathroom fraying a bit and rather dated. The real attraction here are the gardens and pool which are lovely. One drawback though, this place is very busy weekends with weddings and functions. Now they are at a bit of a remove from the pool area but it seems that guests/visitors attending these functions bring along their own towels and togs and all go swimming late afternoons - hence the pool landed up mobbed and the place turned into package holiday hell albeit just for a couple hours. The pool boy didn't seem to mind either. On balance still a lovely place to stay but they really should clarify whether the pool is for resident guests only or any sort of visitors to the Parador.
