“Excellent authentic Fare”
Reviewed November 14, 2013 via mobile

Spent a delightful lunchtime here in this wonderful old cellar resturant. The service was excellent and the traditional fare of veal tongue with capers, frito Mallorquin , hearty Mallorquin and best of all tripe in a spicy tomato sauce soup was exquisitely prepared and tasted superb.

Prices are very reasonable for this quality. If you are looking for something authentic you could do a lot worse !

“Proper Mallorcan food”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

Amazing cellar restaurant off the main market square. Get there early for lunch on market days or you won't get a table. Real local cooking that's worth taking time over so leave the market tour bus behind, sit and enjoy the food and wine until at least 3pm and catch the train back to Palma. Or come on a "normal" day and wander round Sineu's lovely medieval streets without the crowds. A real "find" and anything but expensive. For a few extra Euros they even decanted two litres of their excellent house red for us to take away!

Great restaurant. Interior is very authentic with huge wine barrels and all kinds of antiques. Excellent delicious local food and wine. The service was great. You feel very cozy at this place like you are visiting your good friends for a dinner. Prices are more than reasonable for this kind of food quality. A dinner for three persons with house vine (vino casa) will cost you 45-55 EUR. They are open and serve food till late night. We finished the dinner at 23:10 and while we were leaving the restaurant the employees (I guess, it’s a family run business) were also having a late dinner before they close a restaurant. Great place!

“A pearl in an old cellar”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

We needed to get out of the heat and to find somewhere for a late lunch. But this was Sineu. The narrow street was full of eager shoppers picking up cheap jewelry and scarves from the busy street market. People everywhere. The one or two street restaurants we passed climbing up from the car parked in the street below were full of tourists and some locals, soaking up the late midday sun, so we walked on. Hidden in the plain wall of a house in the narrow main street was a doorway, and on the door a small sign indicating there might be a restaurant. Shall we try this, I said to my wife. Behind the door was a cavernous black hole with little or no warning that we had to clamber down a steep staircase into the former wine cellar below.

But once our eyes had become used to the dark interior, we were met by a glorious sight: the walls were covered in huge old wine casks, several metres high, and the counter was tucked into one corner, manned by a smiling old gentleman who welcomed us and invited us to take our seats at one of the five or six free tables. No plastic or formica here, just old wooden tables and comfortable chairs, in the cool, cool interior of this charming old restaurant.

We were made extremely welcome by the gentleman and by his staff. Personal attention was the order of the day. The menu was a mixture of typical Mallorcan dishes and some classical Spanish items found in most decent restaurants in the central plain of Mallorca. But the atmosphere was exceptional and the decor superb. We had really escaped from the busy street outside into a haven of tranquility. Time seemed to have stopped.

Try any of the proposed dishes: they all looked and tasted good. Prices? Not the lowest, but then you need to pay for really good food and above all for the experience of an authentic welcome. One word on the wine: we both enjoyed a glass of a very full-bodied and very smooth rioja which was served with loving attention at our table. All in all, a most enjoyable experience.
