“Lovely Simple Hotel”
Reviewed October 8, 2011

Unpretentious hotel sitting comfortably at the side of the harbour - although it feels more like a lake with the little ducks paddling between restaurants.
A stone stairway winds up from a small reception area. Rooms are spacious and adequately furnished. A little street runs in front of the hotel, leading to noise at night time. It is necessary to leave the sliding doors open as there isn't any a/c just a small fan.
Friendly staff. Breakfast on front terrace overlooking sea, a joy.

Room Tip: Request a room with a balcony on 4th floor.

We stayed here for 10 nights the room was basic but everything you needed was there, it was spotlessly cleaned every day. The view from your balcony was amazing i think the best view of any hotel in port andratx. If you wanted to lay in a lounger by the sea, eat dinner snacks
or fantastic fresh orange, the hotel owned a section of concrete jutting into the sea. you could also sit on comfy seats and have the most fantastic view of the sun set. When we left i cleverly left money hidden in the room, their honesty and speed in which the money was transferred was first rate. The hotel is under new ownership and over the winter is having a refit with new beds, air con and fridges in every room.
All in all a fantastic stay

Room Tip: Make sure you have sea view

Great and helpful stuff, nice view, nice village, great food. The hotel itself is a bit old-styled - but thanks to it it differs greatly from "chain" hotels and even in 21st century preserves its authentic spirit.
There is piano in the lobby - we were lucky to listen one of the guests playing! GREAT!!!!!

Overall, i had a great stay at this place. Having just read the previous reviews of this hotel (after i stayed there!), i guess it just emphasizes exactly how relative everyone's experience is.
My girlfriend and i spotted this hotel on our travels of the island and booked a room with sea view for a night in the middle of September. (note to other reviewers, the sea view is extra and you need to request it otherwise you'll spend the stay keeping an eye on your car in the carpark and listening to the noisy dog out back).
The hotel is fairly old fashioned, which suited us, i think it's been there for about 60 years or so and i can only assume that the old guy at the reception was there on opening day. He was friendly and courteous but through no fault of his own, absolutely useless at working at reception! Still, time will tell if he did indeed run my credit card 3 times as i suspect.
The room was basic but very clean, lovely hot shower, had a fantastic view of the port, unfortunately no A/C just a fan which was fine seeing as we weren't there during peak heat. We just slept with the balcony door open.
The hotel has it's own little sun deck right on the water, with sun beds and they even loaned us a couple of towels.
In the evening, there are several places at the waters edge to have a sundown beer or two. The sun sets right at the mouth of the port. The only downside to the nightlife was that there is an British run pub right in the middle of all bars and in true Brit fashion it had a contingent of noisy p##s heads (male and female) making enough noise for everyone to hear. I'm not sure if this is usual, as Port D'Andratx doesn't seem an obvious place for Brit's to go on the lash.
The breakfast was included in the price, and was fine. If you're after a full English then forget about it, but they did have some scrambled eggs and bacon.
In summary, if we didn't have a room with a lovely view of the harbour then it would've just been a mediocre visit. But sitting on our balcony watching the sun set with a bottle of wine made it well worth it.

Worst thing about our stay ......... we were given a room at the back of the hotel overlooking a carpark. There was a dog shut out on a balcony on the other side of the street and it kept us awake most of the night. The walls were paper thin and you could hear every single bit of conversation in the next room.
The room itself was clean but basic.
No air conditioning but we were given a fan.
Buffet breakfast was fine, plenty of choice and it was nice to sit overlooking the sea whilst eating. Staff were polite.
Area is lovely, but very expensive. Loads of millionaire's yachts in the harbour and some gorgeous villa's. You may find it difficult to find places to eat on a budget.

We had a fantastic view from the front of the hotel over the bay and harbour at Port Andratx. The room was clean, and without the facilities expected in a four star - no air con, small TV, about three sockets in room.

We were visiting friends with an apartment nearby so the hotel provided us with precisely bed, breakfast and bathroom for a very reasonable price.

Plus the great view.

We stayed here for 2 nights too long. The receptionist was curt and didn't smile all the time we were there. The rooms were shabby with broken pieces of wood on the draws, worn out fabric on the chairs, only one tiny light on one side of the bed with the wire stretching behind, worn out wooden shutters, light bulbs not working etc. The dining room was the same with holes in the old velour seats and more lights bulbs off than on.
The bar and cleaning staff were friendly but overall it appeared they weren't motivated or happy.
I asked for a hairdryer and was told that I had to collect one from reception when needed and bring it back! What 3 star hotel does this???
I can put up with shabbiness but there's no excuse for poor and grumpy service.
I won't be staying there again and certainly wouldn't recommend it.
