“Vanessa and Hugo at La Calatrava”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

We visited La Calatrava last week in Arte Mallorca and had the best time. We walked through the doors into an open courtyard where the night sky was our ceiling. The service was friendly and super efficient. Angela Knickmeier greeted us and looked after us for the evening. The food was truly delicious with some clever and inspired twists. It is owned and run by a smart and interesting Scottish girl, Vanessa Jane Davidson, who we were lucky enough to meet and chat with. It felt as though we had known her forever, and I have to thank her for our introduction to 43, a wonderful Mallorcan Liquer which we are now hooked on. Thanks for that Vanessa!! Entertainment came in the form of a super little terrier called Hugo. Great little chap. If you are in Arte - go there and enjoy. It won't disappoint. x

“Romantic”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

Dined in August whilst holidaying in the excellent hotel Sant Salvador, Arta. We have dined here in previous years and each time is a pleasure. Very romantic courtyard setting, with the fine dining experience adults enjoy. That said there was also a group of 8 friends and a young family also enjoying the realxed ambience. Food and wine are excellent.

“Excellent Dinner!”
Reviewed September 2, 2012

We had dinner here on our last night in Mallorca so were wanting something special and were not disappointed! Firstly you should take the time to explore Arta a bit as it is a lovely town. The restaurant is a bit off the beaten track but have a map with you or use your smartphone and you'll find it. It's located in a beautiful courtyard which is part of an art gallery, open during the day. The food is simply fantastic. My husband had a beautiful piece of beef which just melted in the mouth and I had the veal which was perfect. We had 3 courses and all were excellent. The wine list is great as well with a bit of explanation at the front which is great for those not familiar with the wines on offer. The service was great as well. If I ever find myself back in Arta I will be there in a heartbeat.

“Secluded, relaxed but so elegant”
Reviewed August 1, 2012

Fine food, warm welcome, service excellent yet all understated. Exactly what we look for on holiday. A great sense of place, delightful courtyard of traditional building. The best of Arta and we always look forward to the next visit. We find the pricing very reasonable for the quality.

“Lovely, hidden location with excellent food and service”
Reviewed July 11, 2012

Beautiful, romantic courtyard restaurant - a hidden gem well worth finding! Excellent food, traditional gourmet style . Big portions, sure to satisfy even the most hungry guests. Great service from our two hostesses, who were all smiles. Hugo the dog kept us safe and sound all evening, and had everyone smiling. The birds were singing, as we enjoyed the atmosphere. What a great experience!
Ps: be sure to try the home made limoncello - we enjoyed it so much that we bought a bottle to take home!
