Classic Basque cooking with a contemporary flair and brilliant presentation; freshest ingredients and not a disappointing item on the entire menu; fish and seafood dishes are absolutely perfect, not to mention everything else: interesting appetizers, firstrate meat offerings and a creative offering of desserts! Outstanding wine pairings and an interesting but not huge wine list.
This is a restaurant with a spacious dining room and perfect service ( considerable space between tables enables good conversation, no dish clatter in the room, quiet and attentive staff are not obtrusive, friendly and courteous service) This is a PERFECT example of what a Michelin Star restaurant should be: superb cuisine, fine setting, flawless service (although not everyone with a star lives up to this standard!) The big plus is that it is affordable; prices are quite reasonable and one can eat less well for more money at many other places in the area.
This is one of the best restaurants in the Basque country, and a model of what a fine restaurant should be, not only for the cooking but for the ambiance as well. Nearby restaurants with more stars and higher prices cant compare to this for perfection without the silly conceits of experimental cuisine: this is classic food of the highest quality prepared in a manner that respects the great tradition of Basque food and hospitality. A perfect restaurant, worthwhile to visit even if your are not staying in Hondarribia!

We were impressed and absolutely loved the tasting menu which is changing seasonally. The food was brilliantly presented, fresh and delicious. It was impossible to single out our favourite dish but I must admit the roast pigeon with foie gras and chutney was a winner. We thought that the quality of the food is equal to 2 Michelin starred restaurants that we have been to but at an even better cost. We will not hesitate to return the next time we are in Hondarribia.

The food here is extremely well priced for a michelin star restaurant and the wine pairing is excellent, I would highly recommend it. Our waiter was vety good however we had a collection of mishaps that were just unfortunate. I had a long black hair in my potato served with the beef, my husband had three small insects in his glass of red wine, we were served still water not sparkling and when I raised the issue of the hair they thought I meant my beef was too rare and cooked it more and missed the hair. This was a real shame as the quality of the produce is amazing. The Iberian ham melts in your mouth, the tuna the same, the pigeon is done with two breast pieces, a leg and a pâté, served with a chutney, on a chocolate swipe with a few hazelnuts - amazing. The deserts also didnt disappoint.

Maybe we just had some bad luck.

A Michelin starred restaurant that delivered everything you could expect, great food, wine and service. Just outside the old town. We thought it was very good value for money especially versus French Michelin restaurants.

Having been disappointed with other options in town we returned to Alameda. The chef uses local ingredients and really knows how to put flavours together. On our first visit we had the Hondaribbia tasting menu which was fantastic. The soft egg with garlic and truffle , and the hake with black rice were particular highlights. On our second visit I had scallop and mushroom ravioli which was full of flavour while my wife's lobster salad was superb.
The service was friendly and attentive and we would definitely go again.
