Firstly lets get finding hotel out of the way - if driving and using Sat Nav you will be told to take a street which no longer exists! You need to drive into the old town (you will see signs for hotels, etc), and just follow the one way system, the roads are narrow, so be careful, eventually you get to the main square, the hotel is on your left - if you tell the hotel roughly what time you will arrive they will make a parking space available so you can unload your luggage - the receptionists will guide you as to where you can park overnight, etc.

Hotel is in the main square, we had a room with a balcony on the second floor - great for sea views and people watching. Rooms are old fashioned, but clean, tidy and large - WiFi is very good, but no tea/coffee in the room - but the attached cafe does great coffee and try their apple tart! They will let you buy beers to take back to your hotel room if you like (take the empties back the next day).

When we stayed there was a local folk festival on, in the square - we had a perfect view from our balcony, perfect!

The only draw back, for some, could be the noise from the square - its busy and there are 3 cafes fronting the place. As there is no air con, you might need to open a window - this didn't bother us, but for a truly peaceful nights sleep, or to enjoy a lie in, you might consider another hotel.

The large double room cost about 90 euros, good value.

Staff are friendly and speak good English, if your Spanish is not upto much, would definitely go back!

We really liked this place. The people steered us well on where to walk, eat, and otherwise enjoy ourselves. We loved the view of the square reaching to the sea, especially in the rain! The window seat was particularly nice.

Didn't stay here but had drinks, a meal which included pintxos and a main. Friendliest couple we have met on our travels in Europe, Clean, great value and excellent food. Spoke english to explain all the menu items. a lot which were basque specialties. Great value and would definitely go again.

We stayed here for 2 nights first week of october. We were charmed with the location and setting. The room was clean and very basic but right smack in St. Nikolas square across the parador. The view of the square and the sea was fabulous. The second day there was a wedding right below our hotel room with the bride and groom in basque costumes. Dancing and music all night. It was noisy but I wouldn't have missed it. Hondaribbia was our favourite of the Basque towns. Free parking in front of hotel. Price was good in October but too high in high season.
